Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, if nothing else, this is a pretty good jumping off point.
I'd be fine with it, personally, though I'd probably be fine with any outcome for the two of them, though I'd like at least one of them to die, if only to shut up the people who say that Marvel won't kill off characters.
The way the scene is framed makes it difficult to tell where he is (which is probably intentional on the part of the trailer.

Oh God! Natural light!Steve is probably the oy character left alive after evryone else is killed.
Continue writing our story of peace. If Thanos has the Reality Stone then he would have had it in the trailer when he's on Earth.
The trailer only shows Thanos with Space and Power when he arrives so we can presume that the Reality Stone has been successfully protected and smuggled away.
And it can't be that Thanos goes after the Reality Stone after he's done with Earth because that seems to be the climax. The pacing is off if Thanos goes after the Collector after he decimated our heroes.
The clear order seems to be Thanos going after the Cosmic Stones while the Black Order goes after the Earth Stones.
Thanos route: Thor/Loki/Hulk and Space Stone(succeeds) -> Xandar/Nova Corps and Power Stone(succeeds) -> The Collector and Reality Stone (fails) -> Earth
The Black Order simultaneously goes after the Stones on Earth while Thanos is in space but presumably they all fail as Thanos doesn't have another gem when he's fighting Spider-Man and Iron Man.

Hmm...is it possible that some of the Black Order manage to obtain one or more of the Infinity Stones, and simply are unable to give them to Thanos when he fights Tony and the others? I sense that Simultaneous Arcs will be in play here.
Oh God! Natural light!I'm guessing the ones that are brought back are the ones that are actually going to live overall and have roles post-Avengers 4 and some of the ones that live in Avengers 3 are going to die for good in Avengers 4.(You can't do consecutive deaths for the same character without hurting the drama.)
So people who I expect to die in Avengers 3: Spider-Man, the Hulk, Vision, maybe Hawkeye, Bucky, Wong, the Falcon, Thor, Gamora, Drax, and War Machine
I'm guessing that one of the main thrusts for Avengers 4 is getting the Time Stone and undoing everyone's deaths. Plus it focuses the movie more for Avengers 4 if the cast is smaller.
And I expect the actual people to die for good in Avengers 4 are Captain America, Black Widow, maybe Hawkeye if he doesn't die in Avengers 3 and potentially Tony Stark (but at the very least I think he retires).
I'm betting that Nebula will be dying at some point. I don't see much of a role for her post-Thanos.
This song needs more love.@Alley I'm expecting them to die in Avengers 3 and be brought back in Avengers 4. Said arc can still be there.
But if Bucky survives Avengers 3(and has an arc) then I expect Steve to die in Avengers 3 then as Bucky assumes the mantle for a year until Steve can be resurrected.
Although I feel like Captain America dying for good in Avengers 4 would make for the greatest ending for his character. Chris Evans seems he wants to do directing and has successors in the Falcon and Bucky.
I truly want for both Cap and Tony to die. It's a nice ending to their arcs. Cap as the grand hero, "God's righteous man" who can't live without a war and Iron Man as a final atonement for his sins.
Thor I'm also partial. I'd like seeing him go in a grand Viking-style Last Stand.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Wakanda probably builds him another one or Tony gives it back to Captain America.
Nebula will likely live to take the gauntlet from Thanos (more likely in Avengers 4), just as she did in the comics. I feel like they've built up her revenge arc too much to just kill her off. That was the joy of the comic was all these heroes fighting Thanos and Nebula, who was kinda just forgotten about in the background getting abused the whole time, stepping in and taking the gauntlet for herself when Thanos thought he had no further use for it.
I doubt it'll play out exactly the same, but nonetheless I severely doubt Nebula's going anywhere soon. If anyone deserves to really stick it to Thanos, it's her. And maybe Drax. Apparently the Black Order have been rolled into being Thanos's adopted kids as well, so I'm sure Nebula and Gamora'll have some fun interactions with them.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."I read a theory that Spider-man steps through one of those portal machines, finds Thanos there who beats him to near-death, Iron Man goes to rescue him who also gets beat down, Thanos leaves to Earth and Tony Stark is left with a dying Peter.
The trailer begins with Tony seemingly holding someone's hand in that orange tinted area.
And the leaked trailer shows a maskless Spider-Man in the same area being held by Tony as he says desperately over and over again "that he's sorry".
They could do a Shout-Out to the final moments of What If? The Annihilation wave Wave Reached Earth
◊.
Obviously, Nova wouldn't be there, but still.
One Strip! One Strip! How Thanos has changed over the years.
I miss his blue eyes.
I was thinking this
◊ but less 90's.
His character development was taking off his helmet.

Speaking of which, Mad Skillz, if you expect half the heroes to die here (I personally think that number's a bit high), who do you think will bite the dust?
Oh God! Natural light!
