Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Something just occurred to me...we somehow all thought that Thanos comes to earth, collects the stones and that is where the battle happens...but what if he comes to earth collect all the stones but one and in Avengers 4 the surviving Avengers and Got G are all on some sort of race to get to the last stone before Thanos?
At this point Loki might as well be a follower of Tzeentch. He will continually screw over and heel turn people, all part of his master plan of continuously screwing over and heel turning people.
Yep. JUST AS PLAN!
But seriously, that is amazing. Just like the two times the Black Panther trailer hit Yout Tube

I'm torn between being hype for Vision and Wanda feels and hype for Corvus Glaive seemingly ripping the gem out of Vision. Also pretty sure that's him that throws the spear at cap. Thanos looks silly without his armor but the Black Order look dope. I'm eager to see that Quirky Miniboss Squad in action.
Still lowkey hoping for at least an Adam Warlock cameo. I need his Friendly Enemy status with Thanos in this universe eventually.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."He's supposed to be in GOTG 3 which takes place after both Avengers films I think? I was thinking Thanos already comes into possession of the Soul Stone on his own towards the beginning before hunting the rest down from the other heroes but looking at him putting the stones into the gauntlet that's not the case.
In the original Infinity Gauntlet Adam Warlock's basically the Big Good that actually gets everyone on the same team, and Strange is assigned mostly to maintain portals, grab a few heroes and teleport them so they can plan stuff, and casts the spell that lets everyone breathe in space. But Adam's more directly in charge, serving as a kind of backline general for the whole battle.
The only reason I suspect he might show up earlier than GOTG 3 is Peter Dinklage looks like he'll be playing Pip the Troll, Adam's sidekick basically. At the very least I hope they keep Thanos around after this whole thing blows over. I'd dig an Infinity Watch movie.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."It’s very unlikely, but it would be hilarious if Loki used the Tesseract to send Bruce to the only wizard that he knows of on earth while Thanos’ ship is approaching. The bodies around Loki could be Loki making an illusion of dead Asgardians to convince Thanos that Loki is totally evil, was just on my way to bring you the tesseract boss.
Movie Thanos is apparently a weird case where his fanciest clothes are his lounging around clothes and the more comfortable looking clothes are his business clothes
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey'll probably pull a Netflix and have Thanos be suited and ready for war by Part II.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."It isn't. Look at his Infinity Gauntlet. He's only ever shown with two stones, Power and Space. And there's a shot of Loki offering the Space Gem up. So presumably what ends up happening is Infinity War starting up with the last scene of Thor 3.
Predictions:
This is what I expect:
First scene: Thanos shows up, kills some Asgardians, beats Thor and Hulk badly, Loki sees they can't win and zaps them both behind their backs and offers Thanos the Space Gem in return for safe passage for the Asgardians. Thanos takes his offer and leaves.
Thor is presumably zapped into space where the Guardians find him and the Hulk is presumably zapped into Earth's sky and lands in Doctor Strange's place. (It's kind of too coincidental so hopefully Loki does it on purpose to help them out)
And that's how all the heroes are alerted to Thanos making his move now.
Thanos takes on the Nova Corps and goes for the Collector while Thor and the Guardians try to help and probably are only able to keep the Reality Stone out of his hands.
The Black Order is sent to Earth to collect the other stones. Time and Mind in NYC with Strange and Vision and Soul in Wakanda. Hence all those battles in different areas with Thanos' forces.
I assume the Black Order doesn't succeed forcing Thanos to go Earth and fighting all the heroes that have now collected together for the climax.
And Thanos wins and leaves with just one stone missing. The Reality Stone.
I'm guessing at least half the heroes die here.
At the end, Captain Marvel arrives and rallies the broken remnants of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. And declares that they're going to bring them all back and that this doesn't have to be the end for them if they win.
Final line is "Avengers Assemble"! as they plan their next move.
(It can be uttered by either Captain America or Captain Marvel)
I was under the impression that the Stone wasn't there, so he didn't get it.
What's the timeline here, anyway? When does Thanos show up in New York, and when does he go to the Collector's lair?
Of course, he teleports in, so I'm assuming he heads to New York from the Collector's lair. Come to think of it, Loki probably told him that he gave the Aether to the Collector for safekeeping.
Oh God! Natural light! If I had to guess the only Stone Thanos won't capture is the Time Stone, to give the heroes a ghost of a chance via some Time bullshit.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

Thanos still looks ugly.
