Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The government hasn't tried to enact anything even vaguely resembling the Antitrust act in like, twenty years. The entire fucking planet is owned by two corporations.
I really couldn't care less for an MCU Fantastic Four film. The MCU has enough privelaged white people.
Ben Grimm, Ben Grimm I like the idea of. If we could get him without having to cater to the rest of the four that would be fine by me.
Actually I would like to see the 4 if if, they had Franklin and Valeria as tweens, AND the focus was on them as explorers, rather than super heroes, and maybe if they didn't undo the race bending that Fox experimented with. (If all the storms could be people of colour, I would dig it)
Skip the origin. Say they were established in the 90s, and they've spent the last ten years off world (Possibly with time dilation? Might be more fun if Valeria and Franklin were raised off world)

Actually, antitrust laws have already come into play regarding the deal. Back before negotiations fell through, Fox News was stated to be excluded from the deal due to antitrust laws.
Which is disappointing because Fox News is the part of Fox I'd be most interested in Disney taking ownership of.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.See, now I'm picturing Donald Trump giving a speech about how Fox has been taken over by FAKE NEWS, and Fox editing Donald Duck into the footage, standing behind him and mockingly pantomiming his movements.
Sometimes Trump likes to turn to the side to address someone on the stage with him during his speeches, so if you put Donald on that side, then you can do the gag where he puts his hands behind his back and pretends like he wasn't doing anything, only to resume pantomiming him as soon as he's not looking.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'm not sure I want mutants in the MCU. I love the current X-men cinematic universe. I'd like to see where it's going for a while longer. Not sure I'd like to see a team reboot, especially when we've just seen the text get soft rebooted twice.
However, I would like characters like Storm and Knightcrawler but mostly Storm to get solo movies in the MCU. a Storm trilogy would be amazing.
I'm not sure how you'd introduce mutants to the MCU.
You could say they've existed for a while, but have been largely underground (figuratively) Xavier has been finding them and and networking safe communities for them. Or heck! People used to know about mutants, but Xavier memory wipped the planet.
In a world where superheroes exist, you'd have to have the discovery of mutants being someing really polarising. I love how in the FOX-men verse the public discovered mutants because Magneto being implicated with the Kennedy assassination, and the first big public exposure to mutant society was mutants campaigning for the innocence/release of this terrifying terrorist.
The revelation that this mutant professor guy wiped everyone's memory on the planet and lots of mutants are in on it might just be enough for the feared and hated scenario.
Well, thank god I have come prepared:

Because everything one has to consider is a little bit too much to put it into one post.
Regarding the Fantastic 4: One shouldn't forget that those rights are not just about them, but about a whole bunch characters connected to them. Currently there are quite a few neither Fox nor Marvel dares to touch because they are in this weird limbo between them.
And I always wanted a Silver Surfer Origin movie. If they adapt the story from the animated series, this would be a wonderful tragic film.

What exactly would be the repercussions of this?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.
