Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

My issue is not the twist...in fact, I think it is the best part of the movie. But Killian didn't work (more about that on my blog in two weeks...the post is already scheduled), and there is just so much in the last 20 minutes of the movie which feels like and a... pull, from Tony's arc reactor suddenly being removable (which turns Ironman 2 into a giant plot hole - at the very least they should have established that this is a new procedure) to hand-waving pretty much all possible consequences. I still don't know if Pepper is "cured" in a sense that she is now a normal person, or if she still has extremis powers.

A lot of people disliked the twist, though I think some of them just weren't able to figure out why they disliked it so much.

I wouldn't want to speak for every troper, but usually the people here agree that the issue is not the twist but Killian.
As I said, I am not sure of Pepper still has powers or not...it is entirely possible that she does have powers but keeps it under wraps because she has zero interest in actually being a Superhero and also prefers to be seen as the CEU of Stark Industry instead of the superhealing woman.
I made some unconscious leaps of logic so the ending to Iron Man 3 didn't bother me
Part of the conflict of the whole movie is that Tony Stark with his mighty brain could fix Extremis since he had nearly done so while drunk
So it was a foregone conclusion that he would fix Pepper although yeah it's not clarified whether that means she has stable Extremis or had it removed
But if Tony can make stable Extremis or temporary no blow up guaranteed Extremis, then he could do the heart surgery he never could prior because of the healing factor.
And getting the reactor removed fit in with the overall "is Tony still Iron Man without the various accoutrements of Iron Man? Yes of course" theme.
Interestingly even without a literal wounded heart, his heart is still wounded going forward, proving just as big a weak point as a glowy thing you could remove to kill him
Forever liveblogging the AvengersRE: Black Panther international trailer: yo, that was dope.
RE:Leaked Infinity War trailer screenshots: O__O'! ...Do I dare to see them?

Oh it was just the one shot of Proxima Midnight.
...BUT THERE'S MORE HERE!
Can anyone believe Infinity War is coming like next year already?!
I have gotten into the habit of being hyped for the next upcoming Marvel project which really interests me...meaning I am currently interested in Punisher and Runaways and hyped for the Agents of Shield two hour season premiere. CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Plus I have high hopes for the 100th episode.
Meaning I will worry about Black Panther around Christmas and about Infinity War once I have seen Black Panther. If I would get hyped now, I would most likely be exhausted already when the project in question drops.
Makes it easier to not look at too much material, too.
"Infinity War may suffer a bit from DIAA if the drama between heroes back in Civil War is intensified?"
If anything, I feel thanos conflict is going to put those thing to rest, making the whole fight pointless.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Cap has a team made up of all the not-very-superpeople, the Unreliable Ant-Man, and Wanda, who on an off day might disassemble the universe. Tony could whip up another Iron Legion if he had to, plus he's got the Vision, the Spider-Man, and the backing of the United Nations.
But, y'know, old argument. They're superheroes, whoever needs to win, will win.
I don't believe we have confirmation that Wanda approaches Reality Warper levels here.
Oh God! Natural light!

No one disliked the twist, some people just have a problem with Killian being a boring character.
