Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

(spoilers for the last one) Sif probably lucked out not being in Ragnarok, really. With the exception of Heimdall, basically everyone from the earlier movies besides the brothers is dead.
At least now we can headcanon that she was off having her own adventures without being tied down by Thor's crazy family drama.

I'm with Kostya on this. Hogun being the one in that spot was really weird, given that the previous movie explicitly writes him away from Asgard and he's never been particularly more important the other Warriors Three before. Sif being intended to be the only Asgardian casualty of Hel treated with drama and gravitas makes more sense.

Well, whatever the truth is, its a win anyway....we have another female in the Thor franchise and Sif will still be around. I wonder if they will put a scene with her into the next season of Ao S?
It would depend on what her contract is like. Sometimes actors on network shows have it written in that they aren't allowed to guest star on rival network's shows (I remember a big deal being made about how one of the actors from Heroes couldn't return for the Grand Finale of Scrubs because Scrubs aired on another channel).
It's really only been conquered the one time.
Plus, their conqueror was a Super Viking Death Goddess, so...what are you gonna do?
Oh God! Natural light! They didn't really conquer it. They did invade and assassinate one of the rulers but they didn't conquer it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn fact, they were beaten back almost trivially easily. It's rather embarrassing, frankly.
Oh God! Natural light!Honestly that was one of the things that really annoyed me about the film the warriors three going out like punks ("noble deaths" mr. feige, don't make me laugh) and sif not even being mentioned in the movie at least. then again, these movies have never done right by those characters, so i guess it's not surprising really.
Not sure where else to put this but Sony is making another Spider-Man spinoff, this one starring Morbius the Living Vampire[1]
Ooo, I've always had a soft spot for the Living Vampire. I'm pretty excited for this news.
Honestly, I wish Sony the best of luck with all of their villain-based spinoffs. Spider-Man's rogues gallery is fantastic and, if handled well, could totally maintain a shared universe in their own right.
It's just going to come down to execution; the problem with the Sinister Six movie was never that giving the Sinister Six a movie was a bad idea. It was that Amazing 2 shot the movie in the foot before it could get off the ground. Execution execution execution.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.As much as I give Sony shit about their weird approach to their deal with Marvel, this Spidey side-series is shaping up to be a really good plan. With their main Spider-Man titles being partly handed by Marvel Studios, they're using their solo movies to do what Marvel doesn't have the resources to do with their own characters: make focus movies about interesting characters that aren't the headliners yet are still strong enough to carry their own stories. Even the Sinister Six idea, though the way they pursued it was overambitious, was the kind of cool idea that Marvel never showed interest in.
Like, even if Marvel didn't have the Universal Quagmire to worry about, we probably wouldn't ever see a She-Hulk movie in the same way Sony is making the Black Cat film. Marvel usually just shunts those kinds of things over to their tv shows, where the films routinely ignore them.

In case someone is interested, my second Marvel villain review is up, exploring Whiplash.

Needless to say he didn't do particularly well....

Some of those aren't even cameos being cut. They listed Amadeus but didn't actually provide any info suggesting he was ever planned to be in AOU.
This is why I hate listicles, btw.
