Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm guessing Tony cut a deal with Ross somehow - Scott is under house arrest and can't use the Ant-Man suit, but he isn't being thrown in prison and gets to be with his family.

Oh God! Natural light!Makes sense. Scott was just trying to do the right thing, and acted under false information. Not that I expect Hank or Scott to appreciate what Tony did.
I wonder if he did similar stuff for Wanda and Hawkeye? No wait, we already know that Steve busted them out, so Scott's House Arrest status must have happened before Steve did that.
One Strip! One Strip! The obvious answer to me is that the Raft is a jail, not a prison. Scott got his day in court, was convicted, and was promptly sentenced. Given both the nature of his crime and the fact of America's overcrowded prison system - gotta leave some cells open for more minorities sentenced to 50 years for minor drug offenses, yo! - slapping an ankle monitor on him and kicking him out on probation is a logical result.
But that wouldn't make Team Iron Man look like puppy-kicking bad guys so that's probably not it.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Thor: Ragnarok launches with a 100% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes!
So far, it's just critic reviews since we won't be able to see it until November 3, but still!
Damn, it's must be one hell of a Even Better Sequel case!
This just goes to show how weirdly obsessed we've become with Rotten Tomatoes scores.
Actually reading the reviews reflects what I was figuring from the trailers, many say the movie is a lot of fun with Thor and Hulk on screen but there is not a whole lot of emphasis given to the actual stakes of the film, that of retaking Asgard.
All that I can recall about Dark World is that the bad guys were Dark elves who liked to Teleport Spam

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverDon't get too hyped...the score is only around 8 out of 10, (Variety btw weighted in and ruined the perfect score by now, as they always do) which points towards a good but not great movie, and the non-spoiler review at Collider suggested that it is a lot of fun but not much more than that.
But Marvel did it again. So many fresh movies in a row, that is really impressive.
Best moment of Thor The Dark World is easily the funeral scene - and what follows. I really like the Loki movie in The Dark World, but the Thor movie is just boring and distracting from the good stuff.

Civil War also started at 100% I think, but the fact we're 34 reviews in before someone found it not worth watching is pretty good. Still wouldn't put too much stock into it.
Anyway TDW is still the worst Marvel movie for me, just because I was actively feeling bored while in the process of watching it, something that I can't say for the other "worst" MCU films. GOTG 1 made me feel that way a lot of the time too but there were also plenty of really nice moments to cancel it out, whereas I can't say the same for TDW.

I"m a bit surprised that Ross allowed it.
Just give me a few hints that Cass is going to grow up to become Stature and I'll be golden.
