Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Did somebody slip the marketing director a bad batch of drugs?
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. But is the comic still happening? Because that's what I was most concerned with.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.My understanding was that the comic *had* happened, that it was viewable on the website before it was taken down. I could be wrong about that.
I'm guessing this is a throwback to the time when Marvel would have loved a comic tie-in with just about anyone
◊, some executive (maybe even Perlmutter himself) who could have only dreamed of the day when some advanced weapons firm would want a piece of the comics industry, when some of those comics' made-up technology was actually becoming real. But once again, you'd have to be pretty out of touch not to realize how big a portion of your company's money is now coming from your film division, which has already made their stance on this pretty clear, pretty much from day one. So...yeah.
@Swanpride: Because it's perfectly healthy for little Timmy to watch movies and cartoons where grown men beat the ever loving shit out of eacbother and blatantly violate local, national, and international law on a regular basis, and get praised as heroes for it; but if we dare to properly inform him about how human reproduction works, well, Satan is going to steal his precious little soul. And probably also turn him into a gay atheist Muslim commie.
I exaggerate a bit, but it is a fact that certain political and religious groups here are pretty much dead set on stigmatizing everything to do with sex. I'm partially hoping for them to go too far and it backfires with their followers becoming so scared of / negative towards sex that they stop doing it even with the lights out for the sole purpose of recreation in holy matrimony as God intended.
As far as rational people are concerned, there may or may not be something to say about "time and place", but to me this isn't much different than free condoms being handed out at the Olympics. A bunch of people of sexually active ages with like interests, many of whom are very attractive and wearing at least somewhat revealing attire, packed into occasionally very tight quarters due to sheer number of people? Better safe than sorry.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThe Puritans left a powerful legacy, I'll say that.
I'm fine with condoms being given out, but I guess I just wasn't expecting Disney-owned Marvel to handing them out at a publicity event for their new teen romance. I suppose Cloak and Dagger is a love story, and maybe these aren't monogrammed condoms like I'm picturing, but it just seems like the kind of potential controversy they'd usual steer right around.

I have never been to Comic Con (nor do I have any intention of ever going, I consider those things giant scams, you shouldn't have to PAY for the "honour" to get thrown advertisement at you, and if you pay, you should get a guarantee that you have reasonable chance to go to the events which interest you without having to wait in line for hours), but I heard that there is a lot of "connecting" going on during those events, so this might be the perfect place to remind everyone to be responsible about it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who was thinking of monogrammed condoms.
