Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Look, Thor is going through some stuff right now.
He lost his hammer and his mane and maybe he just needs some no strings friend sex to get his life back together.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersUmmm... so Marvel have just Justin Hammered themselves.
Just casually introducing our military contractor friend at Comic-Con. NBD.

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverOkay, I'm a little slow, not to mention out of the loop, so please bear with me while I try to sort this out. Northrop Grumman is a military contractor, and Marvel is using them for security and Comi Con. And people are angry about that because they don't want their money (given to Marvel in the form of movie/merchandise purchases) going to what they perceive as war profiteering. Have I got it right?
Northrop Grumman is an arms manufacturing company
, particularly infamous for their sales to Saudi Arabia (without US approval) and subsequent bombings to Yemen.
Like, I get this may just be for security guards, but who thought proclaiming that on their Twitter as a “come meet my cool friend” was a good idea?
They're also making comics to promote Northrup Grumman.
What the actual fuck....

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. This is propaganda. This is actual, honest-to-god propaganda meant to normalize the idea of private militaries to children. Jesus Christ, Marvel....

I'm getting flashbacks to that Spiderman and Fantastic Four comic where Doctor Doom tried to drain all the knowledge out of a bunch of high school children and they have to be saved by high school teachers. Yes, even Spiderman and the Fantastic Four.
It has the same cloying smell of pandering.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I'd rather pander to school teachers than arms manufacturers, thank you very much.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub....What.
This doesn't even make sense. I can at least see the reasoning behind most shady corporate business practices but this is just... who thought this was a good idea?
This song needs more love.
