Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Eh, no loss so far as I'm concerned. The Inhumans as a concept have always been weird at best and just awful at worst in my opinion. Marvel's push to have Inhumans stand in for mutants in the MCU has been functional, but the royal family was always going to be a hard sell.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Someone did a good editorial on them recently and he said that's pretty much the problem. They spent the majority of their existence as supporting players and guest stars in stuff like the Fantastic Four and the Hulk. They weren't really designed to be leads because of all the sketchy implications behind the concept.
The most successful Inhumans story was the 12-issue limited series from the 90's, and that was one that kind of addressed the political stuff head on in a mature and sometimes unflattering manner. Something like that could be interesting, but it's a bit too daring for a network TV show. The attempt at making them mutant analogues in Agents of SHIELD (and the comics) was easier to work with because you don't have to address the idea that your protagonists are a bunch of elitists who own slaves and believe in eugenics.

I've just finished the first two episodes of Inhumans.
Guys...this is awful. This is the single worst thing in the MCU that I have ever seen. Every insufferable second of these two episodes was a chore to sit through. I'm just gonna...I don't even have anything funny to say. I don't have anything like in Iron Fist where I can rage about Danny Rand but praise all of the other side characters. This is just flat out bad. At least Iron Fist had ideas. This doesn't.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Ya know...Iron Fist isn't so bad, looking back.
Don't get me wrong, it's still shit, but compared to Inhumans, I think I'm starting to appreciate Iron Fist a little bit more in retrospect. At least Iron Fist had some genuinely good stuff. It had some good actors. The Meachums were great. Claire is always fun. Madame Gao was cool. The fight with Lewis Tan in Episode 8 was pretty entertaining. It still had too many negatives to it but at least when I'm angry at Iron Fist, I can point out that there's some stuff it did right.
Inhumans...it didn't have that affect. There's more worth in one episode of Iron Fist than in two episodes of Inhumans. I'm gonna keep watching it, if only to say "Yes, I watched the entire series and here's where it did something right" and to properly sort out criticisms of the entire show overall instead of basing it off of two episodes. Who knows, it might be better. But it's made me look back and say "Holy shit, I miss Iron Fist".
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I have 4 episodes of Daredevil left. I'll save extended thoughts when I'm done, but...this has been really consistent so far. Things move at a nice pace, likable characters, good action, no really MAJOR problems (well, sort of)...it might be the most well-rounded of the season 1's as far as the other shows are concerned.
Jesus, Adric, I thought you were older than that too. I have a decade on you.
I'm gonna go have a mid-life crisis now.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'm not surprised Tobias is thirty. You seem like you hit the age where you're surly and cynical and you just see how shite everything is.
Adric having the same personality, perhaps moreso, despite being five years younger than me is a bit of a shock.
My various fanfics.

It makes me really sad to hear of the royal family adapted with such little care. They deserved better, and they're probably never going to get another chance. Marvel ruined the Inhumans, after doing so well with so many other properties that no-one thought they could do right.
