Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Not sure if other images have been posted before but this is the concept art for Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel
. Looks like they're going with medium-short length hair for this. And it's hard to tell because of the photo quality but it looks like her suit might have a metallic sheen to it.
Looks straight out of the comic
◊.
Interestingly, portions of the suit remind me a lot of Captain America's ill-advised Avengers uniform, especially the gloves
◊ overall padded look
◊. I wonder if this is an indication SHIELD makes her costume as well?

Straight out of the comic but without the goofy mohawk frill
◊ she tried to sell as her hair for a while.
She looked like she was trying to start a club with Mohawk Storm and Mullet Superman.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I dunno, I can't see that without thinking Carol just got down shooting There's Something About Mary.
Or that militaristic buzzcut she has in the comics right now
◊ that really isn't working for me.
Actually, speaking of Carol's All New All Different costume, notice how the boots in the concept art, while retaining the length they have in the Marvel NOW! costume, keep the dark blue toe components from the ANAD costume (if that makes sense). Doesn't bother me per se, but it's a detail to notice.
Also loving how they kept the lower arm gloves the same length as they were on the NOW! costume. (Still not a fan of the hand-length gloves from ANAD. Man, that NOW! costume is a prime example of "if it's not broke, don't fix it," wasn't it?)
All in all, a great costume.
I like the buzzcut. She's military. She should look the part.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I was actually thinking the entire shoulders/chest area was really close to the AOU and CW Captain America suit. Specifically the star symbol flanked by bars going into the shoulders. The Captain Marvel concept art places a lot of emphasis on the shoulder pads and segmenting the upper chest, again like Captain America, whereas the current comics version is one solid piece (like the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine uniforms).
People are weird about how they think others should perform gender, even when it makes no sense (like Tobias points out, Carol's in the military).

Can I just say for a moment how happy I am that Valkyrie
◊ being played by a woman of Latin American descent has thus far been met with shrugs and general acceptance rather than the kind of overblown controversy we had way back when Heimdall was first cast?
