Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm honestly not sure if it does, since the summary doesn't mention Infinity War, though I suppose that could just be to avoid spoiling it at this point in time. Setting it before Infinity War would probably make it easier to market, though, since it comes out so soon after it.
Oh God! Natural light!"dealing with the consequences of his superheroics" is an actual statement in that synopsis that you keep overlooking. For all you know the government has given him a pardon and he has signed the accords, but must learn to operate the Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with government agents who see him as nothing but a Boxed Crook and his family, as well as whatever Hank has cooked up.
The fact a bunch of government agents have been announced in the cast would even hint to something on this effect.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."![]()
Well, he's not on the posters, and he wasn't in the D23 trailer, from what I could tell. Still, I think I read that he'd be in the movie...
Maybe he only shows up at the very end?
I doubt he'll have a large role in IW either way, since again, Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out only a couple months later.

Oh God! Natural light!IW mid credits scene: "Hey guys! Just got back from camping with my daughter. Did I miss anything interesting?"

Scott is in Infinity War though
. He was filming with Benedict Cumberbatch not too long ago.
Going back to what was said a couple pages ago, I seriously doubt Scott or any of the Avengers are hiding in Wakanda. In the Stinger Steve himself said "we can't stay here". And he's right. If any of them were spotted (or if someone who has a problem with the new King informed on them) not only would it land T'challa in a really bad spot, it would lead the people who want Bucky dead right to him.

I'm pretty sure Steve just set up a place called Outer Haven. Where men become demons.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."First going to agree with others that while written vaguely as would be expected, the summary seems to pretty clearly being acknowledging Civil War and having that background as the new status quo.
Too other thoughts though. One is that (IMO of course) the end of Civil War suggested that Tony was not particularly inclined to hunt down the Avengers and was somewhat pleased they escaped.
The other thing though is that although the norm of the MCU has been of heroes working in the open with government endorsement, it's definitely a "comic book thing" to have heroes as vigilantes fighting crime while also trying to avoid arrest by the police. If it works for (say) Spider-Man and Batman in those comics, it can work for Ant-Man and the other Avengers in the MCU.

Not really. Batman and Spider-Man can get away with it due to their secret identities. At the end of they day they can go home and take off their masks with no fear the police will come knocking at their door.
The whole world knows Scott Lang is Ant-Man, so there's no normal civilian life he can live if he's a wanted criminal.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The most people know was that there was a giant in that airport fight. Nobody saw his face, and I don't think it's public knowledge that he can shrink. Hell, anyone who does know would probably want to keep it a secret, for their own potential use down the line. There's gotta be a reason Hank and Janet were more like spies than superheroes in those flashbacks, and shrinking down to tiny size but retaining all the force projection of a full-sized human? That's a secret worth keeping.
Yeah, he'd have to visit in secret, which the suit (and his daughter's love of trains and dollhouses and whatnot) probably helps with, and, for that matter, so could Paxton's law enforcement career if he's on board. He'll probably get caught eventually because that's just how these things go, and sadly, apart from Luis and that one ad with the spoons, Ant-Man's pretty cookie-cutter.
Huh, so rewatching Civil War and, while discussing wether or not to sign the Accords, Vision mentions that it's been 8 years since Iron Man. Later in the same scene Sam says to Natasha "aren't you the same woman who told the government to kiss her ass a few years ago?" [emphasis mine]
So the timeline was established then, not in Homecoming.

Which neatly comes under the heading of "Fuck consequences".
