Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He says several things that imply he knows there is some great threat to Earth on the horizon (Saying that god is "winding up" to toss another catastrophe at Earth, telling Vision "they're doomed"). It's unclear if he literally knows it's Thanos or if he's just thinking about potential threats in general.

It's the culmination of a few things. First is the fact that Loki's scepter was trying to create Ultron before Tony even got involved. When they find the Hydra base, they discover that Hydra was trying to create a functioning AI too. It's ostensibly what gives Tony the idea that they could use the scepter for Ultron. Ultron later puts that production facility back into use to make his drones.
Then Tony and Bruce go to create Ultron and it's an unmitigated failure. Ultron refuses to be created. Tony later remarks on this after Ultron's attack, bringing up the fact that he and Bruce were nowhere near a workable prototype. And yet the second Tony and Bruce leave the room, Ultron suddenly succeeds, as though the program was waiting for them to be absent before doing its thing.
This wouldn't necessarily mean anything on its own, but the clincher is the Stinger. After Ultron is defeated, an angry Thanos dons the Infinity Gauntlet and gripes, "Fine, I'll do it myself." He directly reacts to Ultron's failure as though he's been monitoring the situation this entire time, expecting some kind of results.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Shi-chang and Power Pack aren't really that much of a surprise...one has to consider that a number of Marvel B-lister properties, including Ironman, Daredevil, Ghostrider aso were still licensed out at that point. So next in line would be the C-lister, characters who had their own comic book series for a while, but haven't be that present in the media yet.
I still really, really want Power Pack to get a movie or show at some point. Go with their modern G-Rated interpretation: the market's already saturated enough with dark superhero stuff and it's about to get some edgy teen superhero shows, so the Power Pack can be the lighthearted kid superheroes to balance it out.
If it's a show, I want a 'Power Pack teams up with Jessica Jones' crossover episode, where the kids play detective while Jessica uses all of her willpower to keep herself from cursing or drinking in front of them.
That is super strange, but I guess you can try to rationalize it through East Africa's historic trade with India. It's not much weirder than Wakanda worshipping the Egyptian goddess Bast, and it makes more sense when you consider the Jabari tribe are viewed as heretics by the rest of Wakanda. Worshipping a deity who originated from a society on a completely different continent would probably be a huge Berserk Button for the xenophobic Wakandans.
I do wonder if the Hanuman worship will get a lot of play, meaning they might have to be careful not to offend Hindu audiences since I know Atlus got in some hot water for their depictions of Krishna as a villain of one of the Shin Megami Tensei games. And one of the skins for Symmetra in Overwatch also got into similar controversy for being blasphemous.

Ant-Man & The Wasp started filming today, and they released a new synopsis.

"that I guess explains why they would find apes sacred."
No it doesn't. He's a monkey.
And assuming they worship Hanuman they'd have to worship Ramma. And he's an avatar of Shiva. Like unless they also acknowledge the existence of these gods they can't really be said to worship Hanuman.
This is an odd turn .
...Oooh I'd better practice my offended face!

Once again, I'm not sure where people are getting the idea it's ignoring the aftermath of Civil War when it mentions the movie right there and says he's living with the consequences of his choices. Are people seeing a completely different synopsis than the one written there?
And given that Infinity War is also dealing with Cap's Avengers being wanted fugitives after the movie (hence Blonde Widow and Bearded Cap) I don't know why people would assume that's not the case here.

It definitely does sound like it's acknowledging Civil War.
I just want to know where it takes place relative to Infinity War.
Oh God! Natural light!

Wait, he is? I don't remember that…
