Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don't see why. She's a fugitive from justice and living on the run. Hiding your iconic hair color seems like one of the first things you'd do if you were trying to avoid being found.
Shapeshifters but they had to eat people to shapeshift. Because edginess.
... There sure was a lot of cannibalism in the Ultimate universe.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI had a thought for a way to end the Captain Marvel movie/have as The Stinger (possibly undermined by that movie not being out in the immediate future).
So, Carol ends the movie lost in space, but with the Skrulls and Kree defeated and has Nick Fury back on Earth some time afterward feeling saddened at losing an agent, and talking to (take your pick) Everett Ross, Sharon Carter, or Maria Hill. And then after Fury leaves, the camera zooms in on Ross/Carter/Hill, who turns into a Skrull.
So kind of a reverse of the Hydra reveal as this time the audience will know before the characters do and would call into questions the actions and motivations of the character in the previous movies.

I'd like to have at least one Obstructive Bureaucrat in the MCU who really is just the way he/she appears to be, and doesn't turn out to be an evil conspirator in disguise, so I vote Sharon.

Well, Ross is your straightforward Hydraesque "moral ambiguous character is secretly a puppy-eating villain", although I'm also taking into account Ross apparently being more heroic in Black Panther than he was in Civil War.
The Sharon option is deliberately creepy and I was thinking of an element of Becoming the Mask since it would mean that the Sharon whose been caring for Peggy for the last decade is an impostor.
With Hill, I was thinking of her mostly because she's been in the MCU from the beginning. It could also lead to a humorous reveal that the "actual Maria Hill" is like the comic book Maria Hill in personality, in contrast to the friendly Maria Hill we've known so far in the MCU.
I'd suggest Senator Stern as a joke example - being both Hydra and a Skrull - but with his actor's death, that's not really doable.
Oh God! Natural light! Now I want a spin-off story about a Skrull disguised as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. who didn't know when it was time to reveal himself so when Hydra took over he just went along with it thinking the Skrulls were responsible, unwittingly becoming a member of Hydra in the process.

This song needs more love.I was actually thinking of it from the opposite angle, which is part of why I suggested Sharon. The idea would be that they were taken aback by the Hydra thing since they didn't get any signal to start conquest of Earth, so they enthusiastically fought against Hydra, because Hydra taking over wouldn't serve their ultimate aims and also inconvenienced them in the short term.
Hill would probably carry the most impact, because she's the one out of those 3 that we know best.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
x5
Now I'm thinking of a character who managed to secretly be an agent of basically every faction in the MCU.
So Revolver Ocelot, but a Skrull.

I mean, Skrulls are generally very good at this sort of thing. Peggy would hardly be alone in being fooled.

Oh God! Natural light! And then Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. manages to bring back Ward again in Skrull form.
This song needs more love.

Watch it to get caught up but don't expect anything good. Maybe have some aspirin by your side if the fight scenes give you headaches, I had to take a couple ibuprofen while watching some of those poorly edited fights. At the very least it'll let you know a bit about the Hand, Danny, Colleen, and that Bakuto fella from the second Defenders trailer.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
