Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah I have a hard time taking Thanos' new look seriously. Weirdly enough I keep getting distracted by just how bald he looks.

This song needs more love.I binged the Infinity Etcs so I'm used to it by this point
And by the idea of Thanos as a farmer
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, Hulk was already around when Fury made his little speech, and while Black Widows and Hawkeyes status as Superheroes is arguable, they are around too, and at least Clack Widow has some really nifty abilities. And Shield already had the Index, though the people on it don't really qualify as hero.
But yeah, the reveal that there were more who didn't end up with the Avengers for one reason or another would fix something which is slightly wobbly regarding the early movies.
My general view of the MCU is that there was always weird things happening on the fringes, generally kept secret for one reason or another but the information was out there for those inclined to seek it.
It's just that the events of Iron Man and later the Avengers forced the general public to accept how crazy the world really was.
Exactly.
Even in the comics, when they claim that superheroes started with one particular character or event, ultimately they reveal there were a bunch of superheroes around before then (even if they're only Public Domain, legendary characters like Hercules or Merlin) who were unknown by the public or dismissed as urban legends.
@Explosive Lion: Damn, you beat me to it. As if Chris Evans didn't make me question my sexual orientation already.
Thanos is so fucked if Big Boss gets his hands on a rocket launcher. One man on foot with a rocket launcher > everything else.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyIt occurs to me that now that Thor's hair is short and Steve's grown a beard, Marvel's three Chrises now look even more alike.
Oh God! Natural light! That might be the best way to do it then. Alternate dimensions are already a thing in the MCU, and the microverse is just an alternate dimension that's accessed via shrinking.
And depending on what it's like in the precise area of the microverse she ended up in, they can do everything from her living a reasonably normal life (albeit very different from what she intended) in the intervening years to her living through hell for decades on end.
"Fun really isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this... does put a smile on my face."
See, I prefer the old school take on the concept, where if you shrink down small enough, then atoms or subatomic particles are as big as planets, with their own ecosystems and civilizations.
If you know enough about quantum physics it becomes a huge suspension of disbelief because particles aren't allowed to become any smaller than a certain size (the Planck length), and the "things" orbiting those particles have to be made up of particles themselves, which would also have to be below the Planck length to orbit around subatomic particles (unless the implication is that shrunk Janet is herself a sentient subatomic particle herself, or can somehow breathe when oxygen atoms are bigger than her entire body).
Another issue is that the idea of atoms being made of up of "orbiting" particles like the Bohr model has been outdated in favor of the electron cloud for over half a century. Therefore alternate dimensions actually become more believable than a second tier of matter that's somehow allowed to be smaller than the smallest forms of "normal" matter can get. Invoking "atoms as planets" has a campy retro charm to it but MCU is leaning towards contemporary scifi.

It shows the sort of person I am that the one thing I latched onto is the fact that Steve seems to be wearing a shield harness even though he shouldn't have a shield; it's not even in that poster.
And I don't like Natasha platinum blonde, but if she's been living in hiding for the last couple years it makes sense she'd dye her trademark red a different color.

Ghost? Like, Iron Man's Ghost?
This makes me so happy that I don't even care about the lack of Ant-Man enemies and the use of yet another corrupt corporate baddie. I've wanted Ghost in the MCU for so damn long...
