Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I saw it reported a bunch of places and a shit load of people were really excited on Twitter, which just made me face palm.
Anyway, I'm hoping we get a good reason as to why we haven't seen these guys before. If Thanos has an elite group of generals he's sending after the Infinity Stones (seemingly successfully), it makes you wonder why he needed to bother with unpredictable fuckups like Loki and Ronan to begin with.
It's probably like how Asgard is apparently fighting a bunch of wars on multiple fronts across the Nine Realms, but it's just a day trip for Sif and the Warriors Three. If groups like the Frost Giants, the Nova Corps, the Kree, and Asgard are all out there zipping around, a backwater like Earth probably seems like an afterthought, a 'Hey dipshit, after you get done twisting my pool boy's head off, go walk the Chitauri and pick up the Cosmic Cube for me, wouldja? Thanks."
Edit: ...I screwed that up, but now I'm imagining Thanos couldn't tell Loki and Ronan apart anyway.

It makes what we know about Thanos more consistent though.
Presumably Gamora and Nebula would have been in this group had they not noped out of dodge.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey're probably all going to share Gamora and Nebula's background of being alien children who Thanos raised as his own, as bodyguards and assassins/daughters and sons, to further explain their loyalty to him and to give them some instant connection to the heroes.

Don't know who either the Black order or the Outliers are, but it sounds consistent with what is already in the MCU, so I am good. I mean, it makes sense that we get to see some of more of Nebula's, Gamora and I assume Korath "siblings", and it will allow an immediate emotional connection which wouldn't be there otherwise.
Also, I was wondering how this is actually supposed to work if everyone is fighting against Thanos. For a proper climax we need more than that.
My going theory was that all the Avengers would have channeled their powers into Captain America, who would have fought Thanos on his own.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe poster that was released yesterday
◊. I know what it's homaging but Thanos looks kinda constipated.
He'd look better if he was just wearing the something closer to the costume we'd seen him in already.
As it is he looks like he just got done at the gym. Which, to be fair to Thanos, he'd have to be at the gym a lot to stay that jacked.
Maybe his drycleaning got mixed up with Cable's.
Wait, why did they changed how he looks?
OMG, Ruined Forever, like, totally, Marvel is disrespecting the fanbase, Y U NO EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE COMIC, he looks like the fucking Rock and I hate him because he's in the F&F franchise, FUCK THIS SHIT, DC ALL THE WAY.
But seriously, what's with the change?

I'm glad the Black Order is being used, considering how recently they were introduced to the comics.
