Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Of course Hulk gets stronger the madder he is. That's the Hulk's entire shtick, and what sets him apart from other big strong guys. Just because it's never been explicitly stated doesn't mean that it's not a thing, because it doesn't have to be stated. Anyone who knows anything about Hulk knows that his strength increases with his rage.
It doesn't need to be explained that Thor can fly by using his hammer to propel himself through the air because we see him do that exact thing. It doesn't need to be explained that Groot can grow his limbs, because we see him do it. Same with Hulk: he starts his fight with Abomination losing to him, but then we see him win after he gets angrier.
You don't need to have Hulk getting stronger as he gets angrier be explained because it's the entire fundamental concept of his character: that he is the living embodiment of wrathful strength!
So far I liked Got G Vol 2 the best, but then, I didn't watch Logan and haven't been able to watch Homecoming yet....

Logan's great, but as noted earlier it's more like Unforgiven with (edit: WITHOUT) guns than anything stereotypically superheroic. I liked GOTG 2 a lot, despite thinking the first film was pretty much the definition of a 6/10, so it gets a ringing endorsement. I hear that's pretty unusual.

Just for some context.

"It is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just."I said Unforgiven with claws. Unforgiven with guns is just Unforgiven.
Also can we please talk about literally anything else. Both of you suck.
My various fanfics.I liked Vol. 2 way more than Vol. 1, chiefly because Vol. 1 rushed into the characters all becoming True Companions for each other without really doing anything to earn that emotional connection. In Vol. 2, they've presumably spent a lot of time together between movies, so their bonds make a lot more sense.
Plus, y'know, it had David Hasselhoff, Pac-Man, and murder by tumor.
alliterator, I want to be clear here - when we tell you to move on, that also means that you shouldn't try to sneak in any last minute jabs; all that does is threaten to prolong the argument even moreso.
Thendardier, that goes for you too - you are under no obligation to respond to any of those remarks.
Anyway, going on something we were discussing in the Homecoming thread - since the MCU's pretty low on female villains at the moment, which ones do you think would be the best to make the jump to the big screen. I think it's probably too late for Enchantress now (unless there's a Kid Loki movie or something). Who else is there?

Ditto. The second film also has a much stronger villain, funnier jokes, and a lot more genuine emotions than the first, which feels like a standard quippy Marvel flick... not to mention a strong and coherent theme. Peter's stone cold but visceral reaction to Egon telling him what happened to his mom is probably my favorite scene in any MCU movie.

"It is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just."Should Moonstone be Carol's first villain? I'd rather shy away from the "evil opposites" stuff, although I'll grant that we haven't really had one of those for awhile (since Ant-Man, I think?).
What's Clea's deal, again? I'm not familiar with her.

I thought about him, but I'm reluctant to say that he counts, considering that almost everyone of importance in that movie is a magic-user. It's not like, say, Hulk vs. Abomination or Ant-Man vs. Yellowjacket - magic is not unique to them.
Ah, okay. Clea and Umar seem like they'd be perfect for the sequel.
Are those Deathbird and the Brood's rights with Fox or something?

I noticed, but if you really want to end things, I suggest you simply stop responding.
