Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Noticed Killmonger
looks like he engages in African scarification
.
Apparently the Inhumans have first dibs on the uncanny adjective.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhy is Luke Cage carrying a hubcap in that poster? Does he think it'll keep his clothes from getting bullet holes? Does he just like it and is keeping it around like a pet rock? Is he going to use it to play frisbee with Danny later?

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Unbreakable skin doesn't mean he's invulnerable to internal trauma. Jessica Jones managed to take him out once already by unloading a shotgun into his chin. Nearly killed him, and that's a bad state to be in because unbreakable skin makes life-saving surgery impossible.
Luke Cage is extremely resistant to harm, but he is absolutely not invincible and it's good of him not to act like he is. He's tough, but he's no Wolverine.
That said, that's probably not what he's planning to do with the hubcap. I think he's going to throw it at someone.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. When Luke Cage throws his mighty hubcap, all who oppose his hubcap take a nap.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers...Yeah, I definitely think I prefer the costume Black Panther had in Civil War a lot more. Especially since it d didn't have those painted on muscles or twee Raiden-esque foot claws. Shame because that aside everyone else looks amazing.
That part's utterly ridiculous because the Sokovia Accords are not a Registration Act. Like, not being the Super Human Registration Act was literally the point of introducing the Accords. Trying to use the Accords to do a SHRA storyline is easily Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s dumbest move, and I could totally see future film writers pointing to it and being like, "See that? That stupid-ass shit right there? That's why we ignore the show."
The Accords have nothing to do with registering superhumans and everything to do with putting a leash on the Avengers as an organization - both the superhuman and human members thereof.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Maybe not that bad. They've done worse things. That one just particularly grates me because it takes one of the best choices Marvel Studios made when adapting Civil War and just pisses all over it.
In a way that's obnoxiously familiar, because the actual SHRA was similarly subjected to this kind of crap on account of Quesada's "Write it in whatever way works best for your story; nobody actually cares what it means" policy during the comic version of Civil War. Joey Quesada's editorial apathy is not something we needed to bring over to the MCU.

It is an even bigger gamble once you consider what Marvel put on the line to make the movies. Still, I doubt that it would have reached the highs we got with Got G and The Winter Soldier if not for Disney sensing an opportunity and buying the company.
