Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Guys, I just saw Homecoming.
Oh man, should I bother with any of the other Spidey movies, because Homecoming was REALLY great!
Actually, should I even bother with Transformers: The Last Knight? Because Homecoming was so great, I'm worried TLK will feel underwhelming by comparison...

Well, as a TF fan, I feel kind of obligated to see TLK...
But I am awfully close to saying "Screw This, I'm Outta Here! Bay can suck donkey ass!" and just boycott the freaking movie.
EDIT: Homecoming was that great.

I love Transformers, but the third Bay movie was it for me. If Bay's going to check out on making them, I'm going to check out on watching them. It seems very clear at this point that the Transformers themselves are his least favourite part of the franchise.
People say the fourth and now fifth ones are better than they have any right to be, and I can admit Michael Bay is a skilled action director, but I just find these movies difficult to sit through, much less enjoy.
The MCU being as respectful/faithful as it is to the sourceful material is all I really wanted out of any comic book/video game/toy line adaptation.

The fourth and fifth ones are not good, they're worse than the previous films (and in the case of the fourth one even longer than all of them). At least with the MCU they have people who like the damn comics and try to put effort in there. Peyton Reed, Kevin Branagh, Joss Whedon, and god knows who else I'm forgetting were all big fans of the comics in the first place. Bay was never a Transformers fan.
But let's keep this from turning too off-topic. The MCU makes sure to get people who like the source material.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Why bothering watching the new Transformer movie? The Nostalgia critic reviewed it before he even saw it and he was more or less right about everything. So, you can just as well pop in a DVD and watch the first one again.....
Honestly, even if the reviews for Homecoming weren't be overwhelmingly positive I would still watch it ahead of Transformers, because at least I might get to see something new.
AGAIN, CAN'T YOU DISCUSS THIS STUFF IN THE HOMECOMING THREAD!!!!
Honestly, we were all so fair when Got G Vol 2 was released in our countries first to keep the majority of the discussion separate, only leaving some general impressions over here along the line of "liked it/didn't like it". If you don't stop I will note down the names and take revenge...when Infinity war is released!!!!!

Bruce Banner, Valkyrie and some woman I don't recognize. Here's another, with Korg
.
