Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Seems crazy not to use that resource to the fullest. And I'm sure there are comic artists who'd love that kind of exposure.
I suspect, however, it's a focus testing thing where photographs play better with mass audiences. The people who are going to appreciate comic book art are pretty much locked in already, so it's not their eyes the poster needs to catch.
Remember that controversy over Bioshock Infinite's box cover? Over how a male action hero in the 18-35 demographic on the box moved more copies even if it was boring and not really indicative in terms of what was actually going on in the game? It's along similar lines, I expect.
Still a shame, though, if we *could* be getting posters like this which are works of art unto themselves.
Agents of SHIELD used to get really cool episode posters. Although they were never actually physically posted anywhere.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI believe you're talking about these
?
Here some good ones for Civil War
◊ as well
◊.
They are. They were commissioned from an artist named Paolo Rivera (who has done a lot of work for Marvel's comic division) as gifts for the cast and crew. Marvel hired him to do a really cool one for Iron Man 3 as well

Legal question here: is Spider-Gwen property of Sony or Marvel as far as cinematic universes are concerned?
Basically, did Sony buy the rights to the Spiderverse and everything related including future elements that might be added (so the same deal than Fox with new X-Men characters
, which explains why there are no new X-Men characters), or do they only own a fixed bunch of characters and lore elements meaning that anything created by Marvel afterwards is out of their reach? Is Spider-Gwen in a legal limbo because Sony owns Gwen Stacy but Marvel owns Spider-Gwen?
Especially as Sony & Marvel seem to get along relatively well, especially if you compare them to Marvel & Fox re: X-Men.
Given the recent events, I hope Marvel is seriously looking for future female leads.
Some more Infinity War set photos
. Doctor Strange getting his ass whupped by a member of the Black Order.

Well....it is something different. That's a plus, but I admit, I don't really like the poster. Too busy.
