Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

    Original post
Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

[up]Exactly. I was meaning a literal wheelchair with machine guns attached to the wheels rather than a tank.

In what direction was Wanda supposed to move the bomb? She can't move it either forward or backwards because she is surrounded by a crowd. The only way left is up and she tries to hold it as long as she can. Her actions are akin to throwing a bomb away from the ship and it ending up in a boat which just happens to zip by in the moment. It sucks for the people who get hurt, but if the bomb had exploded on its original location so many more would have died.

To quote a legend: Sometimes you just can't get rid of a bomb!

She wasn't supposed to be in that situation in the first place. And that's all I'll say about that here given a few peoples' obvious annoyance with the conversation.

There's a whole bunch of second tier Avengers I'm curious as to what Marvel is gonna do with. People like Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Falcon and Bucky aren't gonna be headlining movies anytime soon, so I wonder what if anything is in store for them post Infinity War.

Ever seen Roujin Z? Like that, but with a Skaven Doomwheel underneath, just encrusted with all different kinds of guns.

I certainly would watch a movie starring Bucky and Falcon on a road trip...in fact, I NEED this movie. Desperately!

My idea for a Hercules movie was going to be a roadtrip with Amadeus Cho and Volcana.

[up]That would be great. Especially if we get a cameo where he pointlessly fights with Thor like they sometimes do.

So my thought is that the movie would start with Hercules kneeling before the throne of Zeus as Zeus charges him to go to Earth and protect it for malicious eyes even now begin to turn towards the tiny blue speck. Go forth, prince of power, my son, go forth and defend the humans and act in a manner befitting the honor of Olympus!

Immediately cut to a montage of Hercules partying, getting his drink on, and punching Thor in the face for no reason.

An Incredible Hercules movie or series would bring me great joy. Because he's a very likable guy.

Yeah, seriously. Bucky and Sam have the most hilarious interactions. They would drive each other nuts if forced to be in a car together on a long road trip, and it would be so much fun to watch!

I want to see The Falcon meet The Vulture just for the sake of the Animal Motif clash.

The Falcon and The Vulture engage in a war of pecking and cawing at each other. The Vulture's secret weapon is being able to throw up at will.

It'd be funny if the Vulture somehow incorporated the vomiting into his armor. Like he presses a button and his helmet releases noxious gas or acid.

I'd really love to see a mid-air flight battle between Vulture and Falcon, the winged clash.
