Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

"I'm on-board with discussing Bucky's hypothetical Courtroom Drama. "
Bucky: Your honor, can you do something with tony stark? he is staring that way for hour...also he have been texting me "you are going to die" over and over....is creepy
But seriously the issue of Wanda is how weird CW handle her, they cover up what she did in south africa only for her to be invold in ANOTHER issue in another african country....
I dont want to be that guy but maybe T´challa should watch is back the next time wanda use her powers.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"You're forgetting "the Faustus method" detailed in Agent Carter and Agents of Shield, as well as Bucky's brainwashing, Julep.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."The US military could have just executed and/or imprisoned Wanda without a trial. She's not even a citizrn, she is a foreign terrorist from a war torn dump. It's totally within their power to do that, as they demonstrate every day with drone striking non-uniformed and often immediately unarmed foreign militants in Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Libya. After loosing the Hulk on a crowded city (which there's strong circumstantial evidence for regardless of what anyone says) and directly helping Ultron in his plot to kill billions of people (he couldn't have gotten that far without her), she's going to be at the top of every intelligence agency's wanted list, with her profile having a note of "shoot a Hellfire in her general direction." Especially since she has pretty dangerous supepowers despite her Glass Cannon status. Real world terrorists can't pick up a main battle tank with their minds.
I also find the assertion that none would testify against her well known act to be suspect. So Captain America is a complete bastard who will let mass murdering fugitives hide from justice by lying to the authorities? For some reason I can't imagine him doing that if Wanda loosed giant monsters and carelessly tossed bombs into buildings in New York instead of Africa. Hawkeye won't tell anyone? Someone supposedly trying to go clean like Black Widow wouldn't tell anyone? Banner never told anyone what happened between his rampage in Johannesburg and the battle with Ultron? No one ever questioned him about it? The South African government didn't flip its shit at the UN that an American citizen with superpowers from an experiment by the American military working for an American paramilitary group killed dozens of people and wrecked several buildings in their capital?
What even is their cover story while Banner is gone? That the Hulk did it alone? So they're blaming their comrade who fought bravely alongside them despite hating violence by making him out to be a mass murderer (risking his life in the process, as MCU Hulk is very much someone who's life is routinely threatened by things weaker than conventional weaponry... like long falls) in order to protect the reputation of the actual murderer who is also the one that mentally tortured and traumatized him. I know the Avengers are terrible friends (their treatment of Tony is enough proof of that), but my god, I like to think that they're not "this'' blatantly hopeless as human beings.
The whole excuse is just completely absurd. If we're applying anything resembling real world logic to it, as seems to be the intention with the court room debate, Wanda is either dead or in her own special wing of Gitmo.
Probably.

He was rampaging through that city for an unknown amount of time on his own in a homicidal rage against people with no way to stop him, and the collateral damage from his fight with Iron Man was pretty big. I find that hard to believe.

"It is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just."The Faustus method was only ever performed by Faustus himself who is long dead by now. Bucky's brainwashing also happened many decades ago, and before Civil War its mechanism is entirely unknown.
Besides, the fact that Bucky gets brainwashed again in Civil War should actually be the best reason to lock Wanda up so that the same thing does not happen to her - if you claim that she got brainwashed.
I'm pretty sure the law system's response to "we've documented a few cases of brainwashing being real in the past 75 years" would not be "every prosecutor must now prove that the defendant was not brainwashed."

"It is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just."I believe that that actually refers to a technique used by Hydra in the present day, as show in Agents of SHIELD

Oh God! Natural light! But if you can show that the defendant has spent years in the custody of the organization responsible for all those brainwashing cases, that seems like more than enough for reasonable doubt.

Yes, his friends would feel compelled to attend the event, and he'd only feel a bit of a sting before finally being free and never having to suffer again.
She chose to join them though; SHIELD knows this, it was in her dossier. Cap quips about it. And by that logic literally any member of HYDRA could get off with this excuse.

"It is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just."sees argument on Scarlet Witch's actions start up again
Well, there's a few pages after this one, so I'll just skip to the end and hopefully it will all be over by that point.
sees it's still going on four pages later
If we all agree that its not realistic can we move on with our lives
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I need this trial in Daredevil Season 3.
Of course at this point we've established Big Boo from Orange Is the New Black is a better lawyer.
