Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

In bringing up Reign I meant "the epic, overarching plot with the symbiotes replacing the mayor, putting the NY under martial law and using it as a stepping stone to invading Earth, that would be difficult for MCU to explain if they have no control over it" rather than "the part of the plot that's involves Peter Parker's personal life, which would be a lot easier for the MCU to ignore and for Sony to just adapt out."

Re: Sony's version of Agent Coulson, I think that's a good idea. Introduce someone who can potentially meet every single character, but not be Spider-Man. I'd recommend Ben Urich, but he's already dead in the MCU, so if they want to connect it that way, they can't. Madame Web
, however, might work well — she can reasonably work on both sides and plays the long game.
So, looking at Defenders photos, does anybody else notice that it looks like Stick has... lost some weight?

Looks like that rumor about Pepper returning in Homecoming was accurate
.
Thinking back to the Black Panther trailer, based on the line that nobody has seen true Wakanda and lived, I'm guessing this means T'Challa is the kind of hero who not only has zero compunctions about killing like most of the other heroes, but might actively go after it out of pragmatism? If that's the case it will be interesting to have a superhero who favors lethal methods, or at least have an ally (probably Zuri or Okoye) who thinks that way.
The dude was about to murder his daughter. I cannot see any situation where Ant-Man would feel conflicted about that.
If someone threatened my children and showed they had every single intention of making good on that promise, I'd probably snap their neck. Or beat them with a baseball bat. Or shoot them. Or push them out a window. You get the idea.
Though I wonder if that's due to a general Thou Shalt Not Kill morality, as Strange has, or whether it's because of the lack of control he has over the carnage he leaves behind as the Hulk.
Well Strange's reluctance is because he is a doctor ("do no harm" and whatnot). Bruce is also a doctor, so it's possible.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

That depends on what villains they use, and what kind of stories they want to tell.
Venom has street level battle against his own inner and outer demons, with the villain being Scorpion or Carnage or such? Not much of a problem. Adaptation of Reign or some other symbiotes-invade-the-planet plot? Might be a bit difficult to not-explain.
