Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

it's a living
Think he was talking about Deadpool there. And if any movie's going to have the meta gag of Stan Lee onscreen, it's Deadpool, c'mon.
Something I spotted about Killmonger after viewing the trailers a few times which involves minor spoilers. I noticed scars or burns on his body[1]

◊ and in the EW article it's implied he experimented with the heart-shaped herb and something may have gone wrong. Which I guess means they're going the route where the herb is applied to the skin and not eaten
I don't know a lot about how it works in the comics, but it does make a lot of sense that it would require extremely specific methods to actually get superpowers from the heart-shaped herb (some of which could be mystical) instead of just ripping it out to the ground and taking a bite.
If nothing else it makes it easier to answer the question of "Why doesn't Wakanda have a whole army of Black Panthers?". Which is a question the movie is going to have to answer even if it's not necessarily a difficult question to answer.
Besides it helps sidestep some of the genetic Fridge Logic over how the Wakandan royal family is susceptible to the herb's effects. Especially if it's autosomal, meaning that if the royal family has lots of children besides the main heir, the gene could spread all over the Wakandan population. Unless they launch branch families and Wakandan consorts have to be chosen from one of these in a form of eugenics, which clearly isn't the case with Ramonda (who is from South Africa) or the fact that T'Challa's prospective bride is to come from the Dora Milaje.
The religious leader of Wakanda understood that there were irreconcilable differences and granted T'Challa the annulment with no hassle.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
Fucking with Hawkeye is one of EMH Black Panther's favorite things. It's one of the few things we see that brings him actual joy.
I can't blame him considering that EMH Hawkeye, while pretty fun, is a massive wise ass.
One Strip! One Strip!Chris Evans talks a little a bit about why he signed on to do Avengers 4
.
Couldn't the herb be similar to the super-soldier serum (and Thor's hammer, for that matter) in that it only works properly for people who meet certain criteria of merit? That could explain why it's not widely used, why it didn't work for Killmonger. As well as why Wakanda's able to sustain a system of absolute monarchy - the system would be more likely to held up this long if it was literally impossible for someone corrupt or incompetent to become king. Merit-based inheritance, rather than solely primogeniture-based.
I just found out that Killmonger's real name is actually N'Jadaka. Which means he chose to call himself ERIK KILLMONGER. Guys, this is amazing.

By the way, you guys, I just wanted to let you know about the most perfect Daredevil joke ever
that was made in Rocket #2. It totally applies to the show, not just the comic, too.
@Galadriel
If so I wonder how the herb would even be able to judge that. Mjolnir has some advanced technology going on and the Super Serum was powered by a more complicated brew of Zeerust science.
@Chris Evans in Avengers 4
If I'm not reading it wrong I guess that's a confirmation of who is and isn't going to be in those films?
