Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I wonder if they add X Men especially Logan as he was an Avenger at one time in the comics. He could even appear in Deadpool. I actually liked the movies except for The Last Stand.
"Mai waifu."Wasn't he Hulk when he took off at the end of Ao U? It could be that Hulk's taken over more or less permanently. Or Bruce was feeling despondent and hopeless enough to let him take over.
That could be an interesting complication: the heroes need Banner, but he doesn't show. They assume Hulk won't let him, and are shocked and dismayed to find out that no, Hulk isn't fighting to stay in control; it's Bruce that refuses to emerge.
Planet Hulk also uses the comics canon, where Banner and Hulk are a split personality such that being Banner and being Hulk are two completely different states in a war of control with each other - Banner being gone for a while is often simply explained as Hulk not letting him out. But while Banner does attempt to disassociate himself with Hulk in the MCU, film Hulk is still Banner - sulky, overbulky and gamma drugged beyond restraint and reason, but still Banner.
Unless a retcon is involved, him not returning to normal after the Hulking out is done is definitely a more significant thing - if he's not doing it, there's a reason. I like the "Sakaar is toxic to humans" idea.

There's also the possibility that he's not being allowed to turn back, that on Sakaar they have some way to keep him transformed. Maybe they've found that the Hulk is, ironically, easier to control, so long as they provide him with plenty of violence and other goodies to keep his raging id satisfied, while Banner, being both smarter and more likely to be appalled by what's happening on Sakaar, would likely come up with some plan to escape.
Naturally, however long the Hulk remains Hulked Out depends on how much screentime Mark Ruffalo requires and how much CGI they can afford.

Sakaar's air being toxic was the explanation they went with for the Planet Hulk animated movie. It wasn't actually stated in the film itself, but Word of God is that the sky was such a drastically different color because they wanted to communicate that it was poisonous without outright saying it.
It might be a bit late to have Sakaar's atmosphere be toxic. We've already seen Sakaarans breathing the same atmosphere as Xandarians, Kree, humans, a raccoon....

"All you Fascists bound to lose."The science on that is so terrible that it makes my brain hurt. ~.~

Except that lungs do not determine what type of air that you breathe.

I suspect they allowed in exchange to have full control over the movies which are in the MCU. Plus, let's wait and see....if homecoming exceeds expectations at the box-office and the first unrelated movie (which is not animated) bombs, a lot of projects will simply vanish from the schedule.
