Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Jon Anderson?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Anderson
Short version: Famous English musician, was the lead singer of progressive rock band Yes (Roundabout is the one song most people seem to know), has a really big love for Asian philosophy (mostly Hindu I think) to the point where Yes's infamous album Tales from Topographic Oceans (a double album where the shortest song is 19 minutes long) is based off of four Hindu philosophical concepts that he found in a footnote of a book he was reading. He's kind of chill, pretty much a hippy, and I'm pretty sure he's eternally high on hash.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Could be. Scott Buck seems about the right age for that and to remember the horror stories about Bellevue in the '80s.
Though it might be an attempted Matrix reference. Neo's passport said he was Thomas Anderson in the interrogation with Smith, but wasn't there another document somewhere that said John Anderson in the same scene? Can't find it right now.
The Daredevil costume looks alright in still shots, but several things seem off in motion. You become aware that it seems like he has sculpted chest padding, and the headpiece feels like a face mask attached to a helmet rather than one continuous item. The area around his mouth seems restrained, exaggerating every expression his mouth makes (it's hard to tell if he's grimacing in pain, angry in resolve or breathing really heavy). I recall it being rather awkward in the first costume reveal, as he is just doing superhero poses to show off the costume and it's just really not that impressive.
Copious amounts of daddy issues and a sense of resentment.
You'll understand when we get there.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Just gonna move my edit over here.
Jesus Christ, Joy is stupid. You don't believe Danny when he's saying stuff about your childhood, but the moment you get a bag of M&M's without the brown ones in them, you break down crying because both of you hated the brown ones?
If it's properly foreshadowed and developed, then I don't see why it's labelled as Shocking Swerve on the show's YMMV page.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? You really want to know?
It's because Joy's actually a lot like her father. You know what they say about good intentions, right? She's a kind person at heart, but her need to succeed, as well as her love of her family, is stronger than her conscience. Basically, she gets the job done, no matter what it is. And it's still somewhat ambiguous as to whether or not she's turned at the end, just heavily implied that she's going to. What with Ward and Harold lying to her for years, she's off on her own, and there's a pretty big hint dropped that the Hand is going to get its hooks into her.

Primarily because this show has a burning Hate Dom, to be honest. What Unsung said is mostly correct. The YMMV page also has the nonsensical complaint that Davos's introductory scene is a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment because whoever watched the show thought that he was Bullseye.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."That entry was removed a while back. Should the entry under Shocking Swerve be put up for discussion?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?If you want to read it, I did my own episode by episode review here
.
I disagree with your opinion about the shows nosediving in quality in the second half in regards to Daredevil's first season - I felt like that one was pretty strong from beginning to end, even if it did have its shortcomings.

Oh God! Natural light! So I just got to the scene with Colleen and Danny sparring in her dojo, and Jesus Christ, the Unfortunate Implications...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?It is actually not clear what Joy's motivations are at the end...it is kept deliberately ambiguous.
Don't worry about this. Just accept that every single character in Iron Fist is in some sort of grey area...and that includes Danny. Joy might have morals, but she can be positively ruthless if she had to.
It's not that bad in later scenes, where they conservation is more an exchange. You have to consider that Coleen doesn't practice Kung Fu. Her fighting style is very different from Danny's. More aggressive and weapon oriented.

I mean, if they cast anyone else of any race as Danny is it still awkward? Or is it just Danny being better because he has superior, more extensive training? You make it racist.
My various fanfics.

No clue who that is.
