Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

No, she's a full member of the team. She was created by Gertrude's parents and psychically bonded to her. The central concept of the Runaways is that each kid is the child of a different type of supervillain. One's parents are mad scientists, another's are crime lords, another's are alien conquerors, etc. etc. All their parents are gathered together in this secret coalition. The kids discover the truth, flip out and...well, run away.
Gert's parents are time-travelers. They commissioned Old Lace in the 87th century to be a bodyguard for their daughter.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Black Bolt doesn't have his tuning fork.
I don't care about the costume. Superhero costumes are frequently dumb anyway. But the tuning fork!
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.If you're not gonna even try the costumes there's really no point in making something as bombastic as the Inhumans. Dumb is dumb but these just look boring.
Of course, this is the same man who gave us the thrilling adventures of Shirtless Business Man.
Stop-motion Guardians of the Galaxy/MCU in general. The Fantastic Mr Richards, or something. Somebody get on that.
Similar to Shirtless Business Man not even giving us any nod to the comics costume, Blackagar not having the mask in the Inhumans promos makes me feel like Scott Buck's not getting the appeal of these characters yet again, which makes me question why they'd keep tapping him as showrunner...but Black Bolt looks great compared to Medusa. Maybe she'll look better when she's lit (...maybe), but those are not the right colours for the screen. And even if I actually sort of like Karnak's facial tattoos here, and this take on Gorgon's poncho, this is really underselling the whole idea of 'superhero royalty' for me.
This is pretty much inevitable when you try to put superheroes into regular superhero costumes. Medusa's outfit looks like it's made of actual spandex. That's always a mistake. Always.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.DareDevil has a similar problem. That sneaky mugger look he had back in season 1 might not have been the most Superhero look in the world, but f*cking hell, I cannot take him seriously when he puts that ridiculous devil mask on.
I'd actually be fine with the rest of the suit if he'd just...do something about that awful mask. It's hard to pin down exactly what's wrong with it. It makes his head look chubby and gives him this whole Living Cardboard Cutout look. And then he uses his Serious Whisper Voice to preach about the sanctity of life and it's like, "I cannot deal with being preached at by a man wearing little plastic devil horns right now, I'm sorry."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.So Danny's fake passport has his name as "Jon Anderson". Kinda like the lead singer of Yes.
Come to think of it, they have a lot in common. They're kinda pretentious, they have a huge interest in Asian culture and philosophy to uncomfortable levels, but they're both kind of adorable and fun. The biggest difference is that Danny knows martial arts and Jon Anderson made three of the greatest prog rock albums of all time (and one of the worst ones which I'm never forgiving him for, fuck Tales from Topographic Oceans and everything about it).
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I have no problems with DD's costume but I can understand people who do.
Iron Fist's however, has often worn literally green pants, belt and mask
.
Ain't that hard, folks.
Also: On the psychiatrist's defense, it's pretty evident that guy wasn't supposed to be roaming around.

Ben Affleck's Daredevil had some problems, but his costume was great. Having an open space between the neck and collar would've been a good thing to carry over. Maybe not so much the leather. And I guess Ben Affleck just knows how to look like a superhero. You can question his acting abilities elsewhere, but he does have that visual eye.

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with the mental facility. If the show were more heightened, if, like Daredevil, this was obviously New York in the '80s with rampant crime, a mugger on every corner, and a grim view of mental illness— if the show was Gotham, basically— then it might have almost worked to have a funny little mental patient who tried to murder you as your new hospital buddy, but not in a show where it's obviously the mid-2010s everywhere else.

Particularly when this has the misfortune of dropping so soon after the Ragnarok trailer, where one of the big praises was that it embraces the comic book visuals.

what kind of dinosaur we talking about it?
