Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There is no relief, Adric, there is the suffering which I shall wreak upon mankind.
- Matt Murdock, c. 2017.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I heard Matt Murdock is the one who kept X-Men out of marketing and merchandise

One thing though
I don't think they can do the born again story for his next season because Matt already fucked up his life and alienated his friends and probably somewhat ruined his reputation as an avocado

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't expect the law firm is still open with Foggy gone and no money
Matt is on good terms with Karen and that's it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly, though, I really wish they could get Chris Evans as Captain America just for an episode or two, because it's that dichotomy between Daredevil and Cap shows just how different the two are and shows just how noble Cap is — "Born Again" is where the line "I'm loyal to nothing, General — except the dream" comes from.
And the quoting atop our page for DD is also a really great portrayal of the relationship between Captain and Daredevil.
If you ask me, I would introduce Bullseye in Defenders to speed things up. Have him working for The Hand and establish his early rivalry with Matt there. Then have Season 3 be about Bullseye vs Daredevil. Maybe introduce Leeland's son as a real version of The Owl.
Generally, I'd also delay the Born Again storyline for season 4. Matt's life is too fucked up to adapt it by now. Even if he somehow fixes everything in the Defenders it might be one Yank the Dog's Chain too many if he already loses everything he has again in season 3.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Not gonna lie, I wanna see them try and bring Stilt Man into Daredevil. Just have him show up in a few episodes as a recurring character, maybe even having an altered version of the suit. Hell, I think Charlie Cox even said he wanted Stilt Man to show up.
I wonder if they're gonna make Melvin Potter become Gladiator. I remember he showed off some of the armor in Season 2.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? The easiest way to make Melvin into the Gladiator in the show would be to have someone kidnap his loved one (Jenny, I think) and say "kill daredevil". It's how it's usually done in the comics, since Melvin genuinely atoned. People have to force his hand nowadays which always adds a nice bit of conflict (because Matt clearly doesn't want to beat this guy up).
Either that or Mr. Fear, which would be another solid idea for season 3. Mr. Fear has a real good arc where he unmakes Matt's entire life (yes, again) and I'm sure a character whose literal ability is fear mongering would be very topical this day and age.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I kinda wish they'd use some of Daredevil's Silver Age villains more, if only to either update some of them or to bring in just a little bit of comic book cheese to the show. Just imagine some dumbass showing up and calling himself Leapfrog or Matador or some shit and Matt just thinking "the fuck?" before billy clubbing his ass.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I agree to an extent.
Leapfrog would be a fun, Turk Barrett-ish type of character.
Matador is the type of character set to be a One-Scene Wonder. Like an assassin who shows up in a scene where some folks and Matt Murdock are watching bullfighting and suddenly the Matador hurls his blade at the audience and kills someone. As the chaos ensues Matador pulls out more blades, kills the bull and goes to the audience to kill someone else, and DD goes "oh for fuck's sake."
(This actually happens in said Mr. Fear arc almost word-per-word).
I do think DD is a bit too slow to introduce Daredevil's rogues gallery. Folks like the Jester, Typhoid Mary, Eric Slaughter, Sammy Silke, a more comics-accurate version of The Owl. These guys, I want to see them.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I think there are one or two arcs where they gave him the shtick of manipulating the media to screw with DD, but it never really stuck and the character is mostly a joke outside of those abrupt moments of competency.
Partially ninja'd
Matador was reinvented as something menacing during Brubaker run and it kind of stuck. The Owl was reinvented as something menacing also in the Brubaker run and it stuck but no one has ever really elevated him back to his Arch-Enemy status.
Which is funnily part of his character now. He has some resentment that he is Always Second Best to Kingpin.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I've really gotta get into the comics, Christ.
Also, I'd also like to see Chris Evans cameo in Daredevil too, but they'd have to get the timeline to match up first, wouldn't they? If I remember right the shows all take place before Civil War.
Eh, Kingpin is so effective that I don't think Owl can ever really take that spot again. At best he'd always be one of Matt's most noteworthy villains but not the villain.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I don't see why Civil War would be an arbitrary stopping point. I was under the impression that most of the MCU media were set around their release dates.
Which is why Daredevil S2 opens with the Kitchen Irish sitting down for St. Patrick's Day dinner.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If you ever want to get in Daredevil comics, Adric, you could talk to me and I'll give you a rundown of what I think you should read as essentials.
but yeah, the timeline kind of makes it impossible to have Captain America really cameo. You could have him in his Nomad identity but still saying "I am loyal to nothing but the dream.", I suppose.

Most comic characters have more than one arch enemy. DD himself for example still has Bullseye, Kingpin and the Hand as arch enemies of sort. What I'm saying is the Owl never really managed to regain his spot as one of the premiere Daredevil foes like Bullseye, Fisk and the Hand. Which is kind of a shame, I really like him as a character.

Mate, don't spoil this for me, I need this relief after season two of Daredevil.
