Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I guess there is some overlap
Although I don't think Netflix Matt has driven a woman crazy yet
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPersonally I'd rather keep Doctor Octopus out for a bit. I don't want them to repeat any of the villains from the Raimi trilogy or the Amazing Spider-Man movies (except maybe Electro and Venom so they can do both of them justice).
What was the general opinion of Lizard in the first Amazing Spider-Man, by the way? I thought they did an alright job with him. Not the best villain portrayed in the movies, but not a complete butchering of the character.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?He suffered some motive decay and I wish he had a snout and a lab coat but I liked him as a villain
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI liked him too. I felt like he could use some work but for the most part was an amazing portrayal.
I don't want all the goblins to f*ck off. Just the Green ones. I would love to see them adapt the secret identity mystery plot of the Hobgoblin.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.It would be interesting for a superhero movie dip into the whodunnit genre I guess
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf I was doing it, I'd cast every character who's ever been the Hobgoblin to be in the film. And during press releases and cast interviews and shit, I'd have all of them talk as though their character was the Hobgoblin.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.- Spidey: But you had to be Kingsley! I was sure of it!
- Hobgoblin: Maybe the true Hobgoblin was within you all along!
- Spidey: (voice over) What does that mean? Was that a clue? Is he saying I could be the Hobgoblin? That maybe this is all happening in my mind?
- Spidey: Wait, no, I was in class when the first bombing happened. ...hey, where did he go?
- Hobgoblin: (in the distance) WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Couple of thoughts I had:
Not sure where I saw this, but somewhere (maybe io9?) someone suggested Pedro Pascal for Kraven, which I could definitely see and they also brought up how the character could be introduced by name-dropping Wakanda. And along similar lines, I could see his outfit being glossed as along similar lines to the Black Panther costume and having a similar function of heightening a preexisting Charles Atlas Superpower. I also had this idea for an introductory scene where Kraven is a game warden and is angered by some rich tourist showing disrespect and hunting in a way that's both cruel and involves no sport. And then after giving them five minutes to get out, he'd hunt them.
I also definitely think Norman Osborn should be introduced fairly early on with an increasing role, and I think it would fit in with the larger story, as basically Osborn fills the gaps left by Tony- manufacturing arms and later on being the Shoulder Devil to Tony's Shoulder Angel in terms of .the Sokovia Accords.
Also, while the Raimi movies had well-done, sympathetic iterations of Osborn/the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, I'd like to see a film version where they are total dicks, in line with their more recent comic characterizations.
Also, I'd like to see Mysterio, using Spectacular as a guide, where he's more on the Harmless Villain side and is basically an evil LARP-er. What's cool about that version, as well as the show's Green Goblin, is that they get at how quipping is practically one of Peter's superpowers, because Mysterio pretends to be an easily outraged Silver Age villain, but it's just acting and the Green Goblin quips back/out-quips Peter. And tied to that, there's this element that like Peter, they feel freer to fool around and let things out when wearing a mask.
I thought Lizard as a villain was fantastic in The Amazing Spider Man. More complex than some of the other villains, espcially the fact that Connors tested the serum on himself to spare other people, and the first time he turned into the Lizard, it was also to spare other people from being experimented on. Connors was a genuinely good person before the alternate personality took over, and he turned back into being one after it wore off.

So he's Matt Murdock in season two of Daredevil?
