Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Sounds interesting and well thought out, although kind of funny to once again make Tony Stark a character's nemesis.
I liked the mention of redesigning the costume so that Vulture didn't look like an off-model Falcon.
Also kind of clever in terms of explaining Shocker's gauntlets, because while in some versions (i.e. the 90's animated series), the Shocker shoots electric shocks, I think that he's more accurately supposed to shoot shockwaves (at least that's the case in the Spectacular cartoon as well as Superior Foes). And here, they split the difference by having the gauntlets be based on a shockwave kind of device used by Crossbones but with electric shocks added on to it.

That's because he's to blame for everything. He's perfect.
There's no one better to blame than Tony Stark.
One Strip! One Strip!Besides mercenary characters being cool, I wish the MCU has the Ghost, since his MO basically comes down to periodic attempts to murder Tony Stark in between being an anti-heroic or anti-villainous Boxed Crook.
The Shocker's shtick isn't really supposed to be electric shocks or shock waves (though that is a useful side effect), but that he's a living vibrator (and you can see why that wasn't an acceptable supervillain name) except turned up to powerfully violent extremes. His gauntlets vibrate really hard, hard enough that it feels like an electric shock, similar to joy buzzers, allowing him to launch people with casual touches and shoot shockwaves.
As a side note, the crisscross pattern on his outfit isn't supposed to look cool and sleek. He's literally wearing a quilt, to blunt the vibrations in his gauntlets.

That.
The next time you catch yourself sarcastically thinking that Shocker looks like he's wearing a sofa, don't pat yourself on the back for your clever, clever joke that no one's ever come up with before because he actually is.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Folks, none of that about Shocker matters.
All it matters is if Spider-Man will shout this at him:
Why Spider-Man's MCU movies won't reuse villains from the previous Spider-Man movies.
So while we can forget about about the Green Goblin (and I guess by extension, the Osborn family), Electro, and other villains we've seen already, we can at least be excited at the possibility of seeing the likes of Kraven, Hobgoblin, and Mysterio.

I just want a proper Venom in a film and a lead in to Carnage. I don't think that's too much to ask. Well, I mean it is for Sony.

This song needs more love.I want a Black Suit trilogy.
- Spider-Man obtains the symbiote and wears it for the bulk of the film. It's mostly a good thing. It enhances his powers and is awesome. The plot centers around a different villain. Eddie Brock is around.
- Spider-Man wrestles with the symbiote, discovers its flaws, and discards it in the classic church belltower scene. The symbiote and Brock find each other, become Venom, and set out to wreak havoc on Peter's life. Peter defeats Venom and separates Brock from the symbiote, but it slips away. Brock is put in prison.
- The symbiote finds Brock in his cell which he shares with Cletus Kasady. Brock and symbiote bond and come back at Spidey for revenge, with Eddie not realizing that it left its spawn for Kasady. Kasady becomes Carnage, Spidey and Venom have to team up to bring Carnage down.
But that might just be me.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'd like a Venom symbiote that is somewhat less than goopy space satan
Where there's an element of tragedy brought on by fundamental inability to effectively communicate
The symbiote loses what little complexity it has when it's just a parasite out to take over Peter's life instead of goo lost in a world it never made
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe more I think about it, the more firm I am in my opinion that Spider-Man works better in a TV format long term. In movies, you either have to choose one major villain per film in order to prevent bloat but his rogues gallery is too large and beloved for that and we've seen it fall into the same trap twice. Plus, as was said, Venom takes at least two movies to properly do, not including Carnage.

This song needs more love.Spider-Man stands in the same issue as Ghost Rider in the sense of working better in a tv format but also being too expensive for one.
This is why the 90's Spider-Man cartoon is the finest piece of Spider-Man related media in the long history of our world.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."@Not using characters seen in previous films.
Note that Nolan said the exact same thing when Batman Begins came out, and then he did Joker in the sequel anyway because it's obligatory.
I would at least expect the Osborns to be introduced and some shady stuff to be hinted at surrounding them, even if we don't actually see Goblin.

We need a George Lucas Altered Version of The Avengers where Michael Keaton is seen standing around in the background trying not to look suspicious.

Inhumans synopsis[1]
, looks like there won't be a lot of Attilan seen.
