Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Those Hand goons aren't coming back. Iron Fist shows that cranial damage or beheading can stop Hand immortals from resurrecting.
I still want to see Punisher use that gatling gun, though. There was that huge wall of weapons but the only one we see him using is the rifle.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Eh I get the sense their elite members might be able to dodge bullets. It seems like a skill ninjas would have.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Sure, some of their elite members, definitely. I just don't get the impression that we'd reached that level of escalation yet. Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher each raise the stakes of how tough you need to be to do the business of crime in NYC, but a freakin' army of zombie ninjas with poison blades was probably considered sufficient at the time. They were wrong, but I can see where they were coming from. Now that we have the Devil in Hell's Kitchen, a man with bulletproof skin, and the actual Iron Fist, they may see the need to up their game. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Gao actually not know about Jessica Jones and her superstrength? Could come in handy. I don't remember Gao mentioning her, but maybe I just missed it.)

Gao didn't mention her. Jessica flies under the radar most of the time, and she didn't actually encounter the Hand.
As
stated, Gao does not seem to know about Jessica. She namedrops both Luke and Matt, but not her. To be fair, those two are somewhat more out in the open than Jess is. Only a small handful are aware of her, and what she can do.
Whenever Madame Gao is mention I can only think of Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger.
It's more fun if even the all-seeing Gao has her blind spots, and especially if the thoroughly Reluctant Hero Jessica Jones has in fact managed to slip entirely under her radar by virtue of just not giving enough of a shit. Jessica and Kilgrave's duel was a very private thing, in many ways. Their shared lack of ambition might be what saved them from being scouted by groups like the Hand.
That's my hope, anyway. It'd be pretty funny if the Hand thought Jessica was just some random private detective Claire and Luke knew, and then surprise! Hits you upside your ninja head with a car.

Plus, I don't think that Gao was in the city when the whole thing with Killgrave went down.
Thanks to Iron Fist, we finally have some ground rules for the hand zombies...for one, not every hand soldier will come back to life, this is a gift for a selected few. Two, they get more aggressive and psychotic every time they do (which might explain why Nobu was so much less "silently threatening" in season 2). And Three, get rid of their head and they are done for good.
Jessica is pretty common knowledge thanks to the media attention the Kilgrave case got, right? She probably wasn't mentioned because she doesn't actually do the heroics thing. She had personal reasons for going after Kilgrave, but outside of that she just does PI work; she doesn't go looking for people to help or bad guys to bring down, so there's no reason to think she'd get involved in anything the Hand cares about.
Guys, I've been spending too much time in this fandom. I was just listening to the Portal 2 song "Want You Gone", and it made me think of Tony and Steve post Civil War. Or rather, post Infinity War. I could see Tony having that same sentiment towards Steve, kind of "Okay, we saved the world, now get out of my sight". And honestly, that's how it should be. Tony holds grudges (so does Steve, but he did reach out to Tony, even if it was in the form of a half-baked 'apology' he really should've worked on a lot longer before sending). And such a big deal was made of how each of them felt so betrayed by the other, their 'friendship' (such as it was; I've never seen anything on-screen that made me think they were anything more than friendly coworkers) should be over. At best they should patch things up enough to work together on major emergencies, but that's about it. Definitely not working together full time again. Which shouldn't be a problem, because Infinity War and the next one should introduce several more people to the Avengers roster.
Okay, so I have a serious question about Iron Fist...
Does Danny end up in the garbage at any point in the series? I need to know if they continued that Running Gag in IF or not.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.![]()

I didn't really pay attention to this aspect but I don't think so....he ends up eating garbage at one point, and he does fall at one point, but doesn't end up in the garbage....though people spend a lot of time telling him that he should shower and put some decent clothes on during the first episodes.
So he's wearing garbage. We'll call that close enough.
As for Steve and Tony, maybe it's pony overdose but I'm expecting the Power of Friendship to pull through in Infinity War. Or, at the very least, the Power of Maybe You're Not So Bad After All.

Also, I'm finally continuing season two of Daredevil. Got a bit sidetracked last night. I gotta admit that Elodie Yung actually was a good fit for the role. Now to wait and see how the Hand fucks it up...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?In a tragic yet kind of funny freak accident, Angie became frozen in a block of ice during rehearsal of Captain America: The Musical. She was discovered decades later by Tony Stark, who happened to be visiting the theater on a booty call, and later thawed out by S.H.I.E.L.D.
She's since been enlisted and trained as a new agent, as well as given a new identity. She chose the name "Sharon Carter" in honor of her dearest friend.

They could still reserve Frank's first real run-in with the bizarre for later. I just don't think the Hand was it. They bleed and they die like anyone else. Oh sure, they might come back to life after the fact, but I don't know if Frank would have any reason to know that at this point, or that the Hand would want him to know if they could help it..
