Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm not really sold on Hela being a Sealed Evil in a Can. While I'll admit the comedic gold mine that is the inevitable comparisons to Rita Repulsa, it feels like they're going out of their way to distance themselves from the Thor mythos' underworld, which would be irksome enough for me, but especially since I had hoped that the Thor movies would stop Doing In the Wizard after Doctor Strange explicitly confirmed that magic is actually magic.

I lost that hope when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. refused to acknowledge either ghosts or the Ghost Rider as explicitly magic. Dr. Strange has changed nothing, and I'm still waiting to find out that the Darkhold is just a super-advanced Kree tech manual or something.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Another Ghost Rider showed up when he as in a seemingly fatal crash and just gave the Rider to him. The Rider spirit itself is simply explained as an entity from another dimension. The topics of Hell, the afterlife, demons, etc. are firmly avoided, save for minor jokes the characters make.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You gotta know the history of the character. And there are so many iterations of the origin story. For any of these characters, there’s never one origin story. But yes, it was really interesting to go back. Most of the time she was masked. So that’s what I really talked to the Marvel team and Taika about was when we would chose to have her masked and when she wouldn’t be masked.”
“She’s able to manifest weapons. Her headdress can be weapons. She can manifest weapons out of different parts of her body. I won’t tell you which — I’ll leave that hanging.”

But, I mean, it's not hard to say it's supernatural when another Ghost Rider appears and resurrects Robbie from the dead.

There are so many options on who would be on that team though
You have Thor, Loki, Valkyrie, Sif, the Warriors Three, Jane Foster technically, Hiemdall, I wanna say Throg
Forever liveblogging the Avengers- Odin = Zordon (Big Good)
- Thor = Red Ranger (The Leader)
- Sif = Blue ranger (The Lancer)
- Loki and/or Hogun= Yellow ranger (The Smart Guy)
- Heimdall and/ or Volstagg= Black ranger (The Big Guy)
- Valkyrie and/or Fandral = Rose ranger (The Chick)
- Hulk = Green Ranger (Sixth Ranger)
- Fenrir or Skurdge= Goldar (The Dragon)
- Lord Zedd = Surtur (The Man Behind the Man)

At least, that's how Robbie remembers it. It's never corroborated and his own story has the gaping hole in it that he was dead while it was actually occurring.
Most stories tend to lose credibility the moment the teller claims to have died, especially when they go on to continue describing events that transpired.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's not a traditional Doing In the Wizard, but the show didn't have a real reason for never saying its magic either.
Wouldn't it make more sense for Loki to be the Green Ranger since he started out as a villain? And, y'know, wears a lot of green. I mean, I'm aware that Hulk is also green and has fought his fellow Avengers fairly recently, but he was Thor's ally beforehand. Well, more recently.
And Bruce Banner is kinda Billy-esque, let's be honest.
It would've been nice for somebody to come in and say 'Yeah, this is magic. Don't like it? Too bad." But Lucy and Eli were scientists to begin with, and pretty much everyone in SHIELD that long-term awareness of Asgardian looks-like-magic tech. It doesn't surprise me that they're not the ones to embrace the purely supernatural explanation.
Hopefully some demon or other shows up in the last pod to set them straight. Well, I mean...Not hopefully for them, but it'd be a nice to close the book on this, so to speak.

So the Rider goes from being a demonic spirit of vengeance to an extradimensional demonic entity. I don't see how that's a case of Doing In the Wizard since the two aren't even mutually exclusive.
THEY ARE BUT EQUAL TOOLS IN THE CLUTCHES OF
DOOM

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI guess this is a way to appease skeptical viewers/Chinese censors, or merely to avoid the Fantasy Kitchen Sink.

The more I hear about Ragnarok, the more excited I get.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
