Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Production Weekly lists a Sub-Mariner project as in development
, adding more fuel to the fire.
Some are speculating it may be the John Ridley show that's been talked about forever.
That and the Inhuman push in the comics has pretty much crashed and burned at this point. There's no need to continue trying to Inhumanize non-Inhuman characters any longer.

Look, I just want an Invaders... something. They're not doing Marvel One Shots anymore (imo, that'd be the best venue for it), but c'mon - a plot that flashes back to WW 2, with Cap, the Original Human Torch (who we saw in The First Avenger), and Namor teaming up against Nazis?
Probably couldn't call him Human Torch even if it isn't the Johnny Storm one
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe big "Inhumanizing non-Inhuman characters" push never actually happened.

Well he actually isn't a human.
He's a robit.
But probably can't do that because Ultron was the first true AI.

I didn't say there was a big push to make non-Inhumans Inhumans. I said there was a big Inhuman push in the comics that coincided with them turning at least one mutant into an Inhuman in the TV show. I don't want that bullshit happening with Namor, and now that the Inhuman push in the comics is slowing down due to the fan response, (Thank God) there's less incentive to do such a thing.
If Marvel was only allowed to use Jessica Drew on the stipulation that she couldn't ever actually be called "Spider-Woman" or wear her spider-themed costume, I'm gonna guess there's no chance in hell Marvel could call him Human Torch.

I read that in Zoidberg's voice.

Or they could call him Jim Hammond, make it seem like he's a human with powers or tech throughout the story, and have The Reveal be that he's an android.
Then he makes a Heroic Sacrifice, and Cap ensures that people remember him as a person rather than a machine. So he gets that statue
◊ (the only pic I could find,
) we see in Avengers Initiative.

Who doesn't want to join a Marvel movie nowadays?
