Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They're fake. James Gunn just confirmed the other day Stallone is not playing a member of the Nova Corps, and I'm also noticing they misspelled Panther's sister's name as "Suri" instead of "Shuri".
The big screw-up though is saying they have Captain Marvel casting calls for "Monica Rambeau" and "Karla Sofen". Big budget productions like this usually use fake names when casting for roles to avoid leaks or spoilers. That and a script isn't even written yet and the movie probably won't be shooting until 2018, so it's really unlikely they're already looking at actresses for supporting roles.

The last update was in December and was that the treatment for the movie was almost complete. A treatment is also different from a screenplay. It is essentially a very detailed short story describing the plot breakdown, but it's not an actual screenplay.

I think Ego can transform into a human here.

Oh God! Natural light!Something like that. They're basically having Star-Lord's comic book dad J'son, Emperor of Spartax (yes) also be the human (or rather Spartoi) avatar of Ego. Not sure how much of the former's backstory will make it into the movie, or if we'll actually end up seeing a planet with a beard.

Karen Gillan confirms to the BBC
she has a small part in the next two Avengers movie as Nebula.
Could John Kani and his son possibly be joining the Black Panther movie?[1]
![]()
My immediate thought is the son could be playing T'Chaka in 90's flashbacks and then Kani is playing him in more recent ones shortly before his death. Kani is kind of heavy to be playing a Black Panther in his prime 20-something years ago.
Nothing surprising but the production designer says
there will be "many new worlds" seen in Infinity War, comparing it to Doctor Strange.
The Lego line for GOTG 2
. Possible-ish spoilers you know how these toys are.
Dan Buckley Promoted to President of Marvel Entertainment.
And no, this doesn't mean Ike gets to go away.
I don't know. It might mean that maybe Marvel and Fox will finally pull their heads out of their asses figure out some kind of deal.
I know that at this point, it's far too late, especially since Marvel is owned by Disney now, but maybe something can still happen here.
One Strip! One Strip! As long as the new guy (who isn't that new at all) is good working with Loeb...
Is it just me or is Ike pushed out of the actual day to day business of the company? This sounds a little bit like "yeah, he is totally the chef. Nobody is really listening to him, but he has the title to proof it".

Sterling K Brown: Black Panther movie is "politically astute" and "socially relevant"
"It is politically astute. It is incredibly socially relevant," Brown told ET at the 2017 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant and Spirit Award Nominees Brunch in Los Angeles on Saturday.
"It’s not just an action film; it addresses the climate today of Africans and African-Americans — across the country and across the world — in a way that people will really be excited about," he added.
...
Brown has remained tight-lipped regarding his role in the movie, but did share what he could, explaining, "My character, N’Jobu, is from T’Challa’s past."
Not good, not good. The movie should do more to try to cater to white working watchers. Or do they want 4 more years of Trump.
Seriously though, we totally need this in this day and age of all times.
