Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He pretty much mopped the floor with Bucky.
Then again, he was fighting Bucky.
Not the Winter Soldier.
The latter is a lot more ruthless, and might have fared better even against Pete's superior strength.
One Strip! One Strip!Good news everyone! Michael Bay will never direct a Marvel Cinematic Universe (or DCEU) film.

“I wouldn’t want to, it’s not my thing, it’s just not my gig,” said Bay. “I don’t ever wanna take someone like a third of something or second of something. I gotta do my own thing, ’cause the most fun is when a real director creates the world. You know, you talk to Ridley Scott, one of our favorite things to do is to create the world. Steven Spielberg, create the world. That is what it’s about. If I were to do something I would have to redo it my way.”
But that doesn’t mean Bay has any ill will towards superhero films or the Marvel movies. In fact, Bay had positive things to say about a few of them specifically. “I really liked ‘[Captain America:] Civil War.’ I like a lot of the Marvel movies,” said Bay. “When I saw [Iron Man], it broke a lot of new ground for me, and it was a great character. Funny, witty, I liked that about it.” Bay did add that he does “wonder where [superhero movies] are going to go,” specifically since he noticed that both “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Captain America: Civil War” had “almost the same setup.”
^^ It's amusing how many people wrote articles saying "Michael Bay attacks Marvel movies" when that is absolutely false. He just said he's not a "third sequel" kind of director and wants more control over his films.
When it comes to close combat Spider-Man is one of the most powerful Marvel characters. He's even fought Hulk to a standstill, couldn't harm the Hulk but was too fast for Hulk to hit.
We did
◊. They've both got on padded yellow sleeves like the one Shocker has in the set pics. This would be consistent with the cast sheet that referred to Woodbine's character as "Herman Schultz/Shocker #2", the same one that turned out to be largely accurate with most of the other confirmed characters thus far.

That's exactly it, he wants to build the movies from the ground up. He doesn't come in to the third movie and forced to emulate the look and design of the previous director(s). Any future directors of a Transformers film would have to keep a number of similar design choices and couldn't go completely fresh. In fact, the director of the first installment gets money for every later installment because they established the house style. Jon Favreau still got money for Iron Man 3 outside of playing Hogan. A number of television directors do just the pilot episode and they get money for every episode.
You know, as angry as I am about Transformers (though Out of the Shadows was surprisingly entertaining), now I want to brainstorm what Marvel franchise would be a good fit for Michael Bay's style.
I can't be the only one curious right?
One Strip! One Strip! But if I had to say a Marvel franchise currently...probably Nextwave: Agents of HATE. Per this quote, it seems right up Bay's alley:

Get some actual good actors in there and we might have ourselves a movie. Keyword being 'might'. It is still Michael Bay after all.

Okay, so I have...very strong mixed feelings toward the new Spider-Man trailer.
As a Miles Morales fan, Peter Parker fan, and a Po C; I do not like, nor do I appreciate, that the producers appear to be taking the qualities that made Miles Morales such a groundbreaking, wonderful character and are giving them to Peter Parker. Its extremely unfair to both characters and even more so to the fans. I do like the fact that they're making cast diverse as possible, but Miles Morales' story being somewhat appropriated in the process kind of undermines that.
However, I still love Peter Parker and I loved Tom's portrayal in Civil War so I'm still excited regardless. The film looks like a lot of fun and I love that Tony is playing the mentor role. Its a good development for him.
