Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

RUN! RUN!
Another thing: I can't watch the scene where Loki throws Tony out the window without MVC 3's Iron Man theme playing in my head during the suit-up.
Another Captain Obvious Reveal, but Claire, Trish and Stick
have been announced back for the Defenders as well.
Feige talks about Infinity War
. Sounds like there'll be some unexpected team-ups. He also said that looking to the comics as a clue of what's gonna happen can be misleading.
So when it comes to the Defenders line-up, in terms of character who are either already Superheroes in the MCU or become so in the comics, we've got...
- Daredevil
- Jessica Jones
- Luke Cage
- Iron Fist
- Trish Walker (Hellcat,)
- Misty Knight
- Colleen Wing
- Claire (Night Nurse)
That makes for a pretty darn good roster altogether, and while I'm sure that the main 4 will get top billing, it's still nice to know that the rest of the cast isn't left out in the cold. Just makes me all the more excited for it.
Yeah, if Matt's a 'super' then so is Stick. Not necessarily a super hero but super nonetheless. In fact when you look at that it's impressive that the three shows so far have all thrown up supporting characters strong and popular enough to feature in a shared universe in their own right instead of being relegated to showing up in each 'main' character's show. (With Claire seemingly being the small-screen Nick Fury funnily enough.)
I am stoked for Iron Fist already, much more than Punisher if I am honest, though I don't think the Netflix/Marvel combination has thrown out an outright dud yet. Luke Cage fizzled out a little but it's still at the very least entertaining enough and the first half is outstanding.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Doctor Strange currently has a score of 70 on Metacritic & 91% on RT, putting it in the same league as The Winter Soldier.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.Claire actually did show up in Captain America: Sam Wilson fairly recently. She also is the major Breakout Character of the Netflix shows by a wide margin, I don't think they'll kill her off as long as Rosario Dawson is willing to do the role.
Claire can probably upgrade herself to a Combat Medic but so long as the individual Defenders are around she'll probably be there as a universal Lancer to provide backup for them.
Feige talked
a little bit about Sequel Escalation and avoiding it after Infinity War.
So, if Matt needed a chemical spill to enhance his other senses, why can Stick do the same thing purely through training? Or, to put it a different way, if Stick's training alone is enough to enhance a blind person's other senses to superhero levels, then why does Matt's origin story need a chemical mutation in the first place?

Dormammu better make his grand entrance by saying "Power of the- Power of the- Power of the- Return to dust!"
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
