Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

[MCU hater voice] But every MCU movie *is* a trailer for the next one!!!!!1

If they do actually try to go with a new team of Avengers for real this time instead of another pseudo fakeout like at the end of AOU, it sort depends. None of the new Phase 2 and 3 heroes are exact Suspiciously Similar Substitute equivalents for the original 6.
I.E., Spider-Man and Ant-Man are closest to Iron Man in personality, but I'd imagine Black Panther would be the one bankrolling and providing tech for any new Avengets team if Tony is out of the picture.
Peter and Scott have Tony's sass and nerdiness, but neither have his bottomless pockets.

It would also be a way to deal with the rights question. Tom Holland said he isn't sure if he's going to be in the Infinity War + Untitled Follow Up movies, and the reason seem to be the usual Sony/Marvel negotiations
I'm not sure I see T'Challa being a full-time Avenger either, nor do I see him financing the group. The guy is running a country, that is always going to be first on his list.

In the comics, Panther often gets his "Council of Elders" (basically a Parliament) to run the country for him while he's superheroing. Sometimes this is by design, like he's trying to make the country more democratic or he believes he needs to prove he's (Fill in whichever Kingly ideal possible) before he can run the country again.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Since we're talking alternate scenarios how 'bout this: at the airport, instead of whatever happened to start a fight (haven't seen the movie), Team Cap had just explained where they were going and why, and Tony (who we all know threw the Accords he put his friends in prison over right out the window the first time they got in his way) said "Fine. We're coming with you." Besides the obvious lack of fight scene, how would that have changed the rest of the film? And the aftermath of it?

Cap did try to explain himself. But by that point, Tony was hearing none of it.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
it will pretty much botch the entire third act where Cap and Tony fight, the airport fight was pretty much the best thing Zemo could hope for since it make things easier for him.
I mean, have anyone else beside Cap,Tony,Bukcy have come, Zemo would be fuck.

Yup. It was basically cry wolf at that point. Steve had already broken the law several times and disobeyed direct orders, and was now fleeing with a wanted fugitive who just assaulted (and possibly killed) a bunch of government employees. And then of course Ross made it clear that if Tony didn't bring in Team Cap by himself within the set time limit, he'd send a bunch of his soldiers instead (which would just make things even worse). By the time he tried to explain to Tony that Zemo was the real mastermind behind all this, Tony wasn't in the mood to listen to him.
On that note, it's probably too late in the scheme of things, but I'd like Steve to be "redeemed", especially in the eyes of Tony through having the government put forth one or more "Evil"!Cap" types (probably a composite of U.S. Agent and William Burnside). And like at the same time you could have Citizen V and a team of Thunderbolts, with V being Zemo of course. Alternatively, you could have Citizen V and the Thunderbolts and have V being one of the "Evil!Cap" guys.

They'll probably have to do something big to reendear the heroes to the public in the next movie. Though I guess stopping an Evil Overlord from destroying the universe probably counts.
Some context: last season, we met an Inhuman named James whose powers was he could make objects explode. Sort of a bargain basement Gambit, except for this one time when he made a chain whip of fire. (In the comics, James is "Hellfire," who is the grandson of the Phantom Rider, the old west Ghost Rider.)
This season, we've been introduced to Robbie Reyes, the Ghost Rider. Not an Inhuman, he says he got his powers from making a "deal with the Devil." In this episode, James is revealed as working for anti-Inhuman terrorists the Watchdogs. And so they fight.
And lo, it was awesome.

I've been thinking it would be a neat idea for every MCU movie to have a trailer for the next one.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
