Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

She would have the most convoluted origin for a human base character to pull from so far. I imagine it would be difficult. On the other hand, her power set allows us the first time to watch someone fight like a Sayian. And powers aren't waisted in these films either. They get used creatively than resorting to the equivalent of the guns blazing tacit. Now imagine her combining those moves with someone like Thor or Dr. Strange. Holy carp Overwatch combo on steroids.

Indeed, which is why I liked that Feige acknowledged it somewhat here:
She doesn't have the most amazing track record over the course of her long history as far as superheroes go. She's only really gained prominence in the last five or so years, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who found KSD's run with her to be on the middling side. As long as they steer away from really awful stuff like the Immortus storyline they don't have to worry about Canon Defilement as they would with a more storied figure like Captain America, and if anything this is an opportunity to really define the character in a way I personally feel the comics failed to.
I think the key with Captian Marvel's power level in the MCU would be to put a diminishing returns component to her energy absorption, but no definable upper limit. So she can very easily reach somewhere around Thor's power level just from ambient or otherwise mundane sources of power, but it takes something on the level of the infinity stones to go far beyond that.
That way in 90% of of the time she's around Thor-ish levels of power and doesn't render the rest of the Avengers redundant, while simultaneously being able to take on Thanos one-on-one under the right circumstances.
Peggy Carter Will Return in... Marvel's Avengers Cartoon
I haven't even seen the cartoon. I just felt like saying that.

Adaptation may nerf him to an extent. Anyways, I'd rather Adam Warlock be his Arch-Enemy, not Carol. Then again, there's still the Magus and Kismet for him if Marvel's already decided that Carol has dibs on the Mad Titan. Though Vision also stands a good chance at getting matched up against Thanos, since they're thematic foils to one another.

Titanian Eternals' biology grants then manipulation over cosmic energies. Thanos is the ultimate Titanian and as seen in the GOG prelude he favours augmenting the body to become stronger. Although there is no word if Thanos is an Eternal, sucking in energy is a key form of defense he naturally was born with. Carol shoots energy. Thanos eats it even if he wasn't born to (agumatations). Carol, Thor, and Iron Man would need to rethink twice. Vision has an IS so he may do some crazier shit. Yeah Thanos has to be nerfed (he can even compete with Strange's magical skills)

Yeah, that's probably something you should ask in OTC.
Oh God! Natural light!Let's put it this way: If Marvel is smart, they will play the long game, meaning that they will hold onto their current generation of Avengers as long as possible, but also allowing them to phase out when they "age out" of the Franchise which, after all, doesn't have a sliding timeline like the comics do. And then they will introduce a number of younger characters to take over....Cassie Lang, Amadeus Cho, Kamala Khan aso are all possible options down the line. It they will call them "young Avengers" or "The Champions" or whatever we will have to wait and see. But it is certainly smart to have a "fresh name" so to speak as possible option.
The Champions have literally only had a single issue so far and it was obnoxious as hell, so calling it the "new flagship series" as that article does is rather premature.
It's basically Young Avengers if half their screentime was devoted to whining about how the Avengers are shitty heroes who cause too much collateral damage and never stick around to clean up afterwards. And then recruiting the f*cking Hulk, destroying a mine, and avoiding hypocrisy through the magic of cutting to the next scene before anyone can question it.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That I do agree with. Cho excepted, because I hate him.
The Young Avengers, Ms. Marvel, Sam Alexander, Miles Morales, MAC, Kid Loki, Avengers Academy, etc. There's a lot of fresh, new blood characters that would be great to see show up in future MCU titles.
Bonus points if MAC shows up and she's not "the MCU adaptation of MAC". She's just MAC, because there's only one MAC.
