Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That's three characters who can make their own technology and powers. Tinker, Vulture, and Shocker made their suits themselves. They are equally smart in that regard, which kinda makes things interesting in live action if comicbook roots are taken too seriously. Less interesting because I can't imagine the connection between them through that way.
I think for a Spiderman film we have the importance of youth in a reality where escapism was once only escapism. Now it's very much mundane and someone like the next Spiderman knock off or KK might receive a "meh, already saw that one before, nothing new dude" expression. For young people, the superpower powered world might get a lot of eye rolls at after 2020. It's going to be competitive during phase 4. By then I think any reference counts no matter the medium

Kinda hope they do something with Kamala, the Inhuman royal family, and a hidden city at the bottom of the ocean/on the frigging moon. Just because the Fantastic Four are off-limits and Namor and Atlantis are...contested doesn't mean those concepts can't work in other ways. To be honest, since we're already getting Jason Momoa as Aquaman in the Snyderverse, I'd rather see Black Bolt than Namor.
Oh, right, Tinkerer. I keep forgetting.
I keep wondering if they're going to bring in Vulture's life-draining, youth-stealing device. That was a big part of the '90s animated series, and the advertising seems to hint that that was an influence on this movie. I'd also be curious to see if that technology somehow plays into some of the (admittedly weak, circumstantial) hints that this movie is going to introduce the Spider-verse.

So do I. I honestly wouldn't mind if she just straight up moved to his show. Matt's smothering her; she's a much stronger character in any scene she does not have to share with him, but their romantic relationship is just awful for both of them.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Are we talking about Karen?
Yeah, I want to like her but every scene she shares with Matt is just bland. I wouldn't mind her role in Daredevil being reduced to give her more screentime in Punisher.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yes. She was mentioned by name originally then appears to have been edited out.

I just want to step in to say that's not irony, just coincidence.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Artist's rendition of Iron Fist.
Looks alright I guess. Still waiting on the costume.
It was never actually confirmed and nothing has been heard about it since. The entire "rumor" was the writer using Insane Troll Logic to say that John Ridley's new show would be a Ms. Marvel show because he once did another show that had a Muslim woman in it.
Which would kinda be like me saying Aaron Sorkin is making a Moon Knight show because he once did a TV show that had Jewish people in it.

See, now I want Dare Devil to bounce back and improve so people will stop ripping on it.
And while Karen might be good on Punisher, maybe if Dare Devil fixed it's shit, people wouldn't want her to leave. I'm annoyed with the Hand plot and some of Matt's screw ups as well, but instead of tossing him under the bus, why not just improve it?
I'm hoping he gets better.
One Strip! One Strip!(I actually always liked that song, bad definitions or not.)
I think Daredevil S2 was disappointing to many mostly because while the first season has problems, it also did some things exceptionally well. And if the comic TV shows you're used to are along the lines of Arrow, it just makes you excited and hopeful. And then comes the Hand.
Well, I'm just worried that people are turning a little too hard on it.
Arrow has earned it's poor rep, and has an uphill battle to gain back respect.
Dare Devil has a poor second season and people are already wanting to pull out characters to save them from being dragged down with it.
One Strip! One Strip! The desire for Karen to abandon ship has nothing to do with how shitty the Hand plot was and everything to do with how consistently terrible the Matt/Karen ship has been. The only time the Romantic Plot Tumor was not obnoxious and intrusive was when it gave Castle a rare opportunity to show off the hopeless romantic aspect of his character that often gets overlooked in favor of epic gun shootiness.
Karen, as a character, is at her best when she's not interacting with Matt. Matt, meanwhile, is kinda shitty when he's interacting with her too. Thus, it's to everyone's benefit of Karen and Matt kindly f*ck off from each other.

It wouldn't be my favourite solution by any stretch - not least I feel it would be letting the Daredevil writers off the hook. Matt's ever evolving love life isn't something I'm all that interested in, but if they feel it's necessary to play it like they are doing at the moment, they should perhaps put some care into how they're writing the people involved.
I like Karen just fine, but I know lots of people were sort of split on her in S2, liking her in her scenes with Frank, and disliking the relationship with Matt. Claire's problem is a different one, she's more of a guest star than anything close to a regular character - maybe they could simply decide what they want her to be. If she's a main on Luke Cage, I'm fine with her just having a supporting part on DD, but they have to commit to that.

It looks like KK is headed for TV though...they had a TV show with her in work already in the past...though they might have changed their mind...
