Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They're also quickly running out of ways to justify Widow still being a spy while also being one of the most recognizable people on the planet. She really should've gotten that espionage solo movie in Phase 2, but yadda yadda Perlmutter.
Possibly going to see THE CHAOS DIE-MEN-SHUN, perhaps?

I mean, James Bond pulled it off for twenty movies.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yes, but you were responding to Widow being recognizable. I was echoing your post for emphasis in response to the criticism raised immediately after about writing an espionage plot. Because it's still true.
Every MCU film has been Superhero Insert Genre Here. Black Widow would be Superhero James Bond.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Im surprise nobody use it after inception so yeah, I kinda like it
And I really want a Black widow movie, but Im thinking what kind of villian she deserve: Hydra is overplay and pretty dead a this point, havng a regular terrorist would make a spy movie with just Marvel atach to it, I kept saying A.I.M will be best choice.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"They already had AIM. They made Extremis.
Unless you're asking for MODOK and guys in beekeeper suits. In which case...yeah. I don't quite know how to feel about that. We lucked out with Arnim Zola (really kind of knocked that adaptation out of the park). Not sure I want to tempt fate.
Maybe another Black Widow, although Agent Carter already had an evil counterpart Russian spy.

I'd be down with that. Actually— I mentioned this before, but I'd like to see an adaptation-in-spirit of Thunderbolts. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Zemo, Ross. The pieces are there. Taskmaster could be a good addition to the team/first foe/frenemy.
Maybe do some flashbacks to how Clint and Natasha met, how she was recruited (assuming they haven't aged completely out of that particular story). Or not.
Between Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Ant-Man I like that we're finally getting some more interesting-looking bad guys instead of still more executives and paramilitary types, but it might still be too soon for MODOK. Then again, they made the Guardians work. Who knows?

Well, we just came out of Civil War and we had Spider-Man in it...why not bring H.A.M.M.E.R. into the MCU? Let everybody else feel the pain of Norman Osborne becoming one of the most powerful men in the US!
Oh. My. God. I just realized that we hadn't introduced the Skrulls into the MCU. Everybody, everybody, EVERYBODY, FOUR WORDS- BLACK WIDOW: SECRET INVASION!
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position....Dammit, you're right. That would be pretty good for a spy movie. Sadly I think the Skrulls are stuck in limbo with the Fantastic Four. Maybe there are some other shapeshifters or doppelgangers they could pragmatically adapt?
Like the Life Model Decoys, even? I'd love to see a development from the TV show make the crossover back into the movies.
As long as we're blue-skying it anyway, I mean.

Pretend that I don't know what that means. Does that mean that, theoretically, we COULD have a Black Widow fighting Skrulls? Because Joss Whendon says that he's willing to come back to Marvel for a Black Widow movie. I know I'm just daydreaming but this is a really cool idea!

You know, I would kinda like a "Black Widow" move soon. It could fit: the Avengers are underground so a espionage movie would work.
