Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There's a proverb that says "Generals always fight the last war", meaning they plan for future conflicts by making the preparations they wish they could have made for the previous conflict. I like how Civil War has this be the case for Tony and Steve without having to point it out: Tony's looking to prevent something like Age of Ultron from happening again, while Steve's looking to prevent something like Winter Soldier from happening again.
You know what I want to see in Infinity War? I want Chris Evans!Steve Rogers. Think about it. Steve will have most likely been on the run/in hiding the whole time (from the end of Civil War to however far into Infinity War it takes to track him down. It seems reasonable that he would've changed his appearance. Say, dark hair and a beard? Even if they change it back to his normal look once he puts the uniform back on, I'd still get a kick out of it.
Wait, damage control is still in play? We heard so little about the show, I somehow assumed ABC has already passed it over, especially in the light of DC doing Powerless.....
I guess that Netflix might change their mind and do three shows a year with one of them dropping in the summer....would be perfect imho.
Do we know if War Machine & Falcon will be in Infinity War?

Peace is the only battle worth waging.I think it is a pretty safe bet that every single Avengers, present or past or just there for the Civil War squirm, will be there. Question is how many of their supporting players will be there and when the Got G will turn up.
I had a feeling they'd show up; I just wanted to ask since they haven't been officially confirmed.

They're the only major players who haven't been officially confirmed yet. They'll probably show up, but I just found it odd that they haven't been confirmed yet.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.Something just occurred to me...did anyone ever notice that Marcus and Mc Feely basically write those movies as a bunch of set-up and fall-outs? Meaning, Captain America sets up Steve waking up in a different world, but the actual fall-out of this is discussed in The Winter Soldier. The Winter Soldier sets up that Bucky is still around, but the actual fall-out of what this means, with all possible consequences is the topic of Civil War. Civil War sets up the Fall-out of the Avengers (and I still think that the actual Civil War isn't quite over yet but will dominate the whole phase 3, which is exactly the reason why it is the first movie of this phase and not the big finale of the last), so if they follow their pattern wouldn't that mean that Infinity War will deal with that fall-out, while only setting up the Infinity War which in turn will happen one movie later?
Falcon is almost definitely gonna be there. War Machine is a bit iffy. I can't shake the feeling that the reason they crippled him in Civil War is because Don Cheadle is considering retiring from the role, so the ambiguous nature of the situation gives him a good out if he decides he doesn't want to reprise it.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Filming starts towards the end of this year, and continues on for nine months
. Seems kind of early for them to start when they haven't even come close to starting for Black Panther which comes out before either film, but then again it's unusually long to begin with. Who they have onset at the beginning is not necessarily indicative of the whole cast.

This article
lists Cumberbatch among the Infinity War cast. While I wouldn't be at all surprised if he appeared, has he been confirmed?

Added.
