Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hence why I'm kinda nervous about this new movie one of the Guardians of the Galaxy script writers is making with Alex Hirsch. Often you'll have numerous people editing the scripts of movies without being credited. Heck, one guy edited the script for Men in Black 3 so that it could make Will Smith's dialogue more "Will Smith" or something and the main writers didn't even know it.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?![]()
Well, the comic book genre has a little bit more to offer than the standard plots we tend to get on the big screen outside of the MCU. Which is why I am so happy that Marvel is exploring all those different genres...I wouldn't want to start reading comics (too confusing) but I love that we now get the highlights in a handy new package.
It just occurred to me...if the do the Planet Hulk storyline with the arena elements, doesn't that mean that Ragnarok might end up being a Sword and Sandal movie?
I am also still hopeful that the next Got G might end up being a pirate movie....
The possibilities are endless! Well, not really, at one point they will have covered most of the possible genres, but still.
@bottom of last page: was that man Will Smith, by any chance?
How close to sword-and-sandal Ragnarok gets is hard to know at this point, but it's a gladiator movie at the very least. On a related note, however, I didn't know until recently that Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster was one of the Elders of the Universe and thus billions of years old— as are Ego the Living Planet, not to mention the Collector. That seems like such a Jack Kirby twist to have, and I love it. Maybe they'll all have some cameo in Infinity War? Even if it's just a few seconds or a flashback, that cast list is shaping up to be *legendary*.
Any readers with deeper comic book knowledge than me care to comment?

I've been telling all of you the movie was fine for a while now! Glad someone sees that I'm right.
See. Handsome Rob knows what he's talking about.
One Strip! One Strip!I love Age of Ultron. There's a lot of depth in it that people tend to gloss over. I wrote about some of them here.

Well, there was a very lively discussing in the MCU v DCEU threat....and I guess we are currently all laying in wait for Doctor Strange and Luke Cage and the next season of Agents of Shield....M Arvel really needs to come up with a summer show to tide me over...
Shows currently in production:
- Luke Cage (Netflix, airing September 30)
- Iron Fist (Netflix, airing sometime in 2017)
- The Defenders (Netflix, airing sometime in 2017)
- Jessica Jones Season 2 (Netflix, airing sometime in 2018)
- The Punisher (Netflix, unknown airdate)
- Daredevil Season 3 (Netlifx, unknown airdate)
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 (ABC, airing September 20)
- Cloak and Dagger (Freeform, unknown airdate)
Shows that might air:
- Damage Control (ABC, pilot ordered)
- Runaways (Hulu, pilot ordered)
We could get Cloak and Dagger as a summer show. I think Freeform has their shows on in the summer. Or we could get Runaways on Hulu.

I like that it seems (superficially) counterintuitive. The flashy playboy ends up on the side of law, and the good soldier chooses freedom no matter the cost. Tony, irrepressible and irresponsible with no one who could tell him no all his life, believes people need control, limitations, a watchful eye— but Steve Rogers, bullied, pushed down, and rejected, but always holding onto that powerful moral compass, still believes in other people, in individuals.
That cuts both ways, interestingly. Steve trusts other people because he's always had a deep, innate sense of right and wrong, a lack of doubt, a deep-rooted perseverance. Tony, meanwhile, can't put the same faith in others, because when push comes to shove, he doesn't trust himself.

Black Panther gets a lot of credit for having no patience for combat banter, but Sam was doing it before it was cool.
But nobody credits Sam for it. It's because he's black, isn't it?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
