Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Smash or smash not, there is no try.
Use the shield, Cap! Use the shield!
I find your lack of Vibranium disturbing.
No, I am your partner.

Myabe he figured he could stop what happened in the SW verse from happening in the MCU. Hell, Winter Soldier shows him as being suspicious of Hydra being a part of SHIELD.
Must have broken his heart when Garrett pulled an Anakin though.
"Why yes I do know of a movie called Empire Strikes Back. Know why? Cause I fucking lived it!"
That's great. Especially since she seems to be wearing the costume while reading.
And over the fact that Sebastian Stan is clearly Mark Hamill abducted from the past.

Goddammit, Beast.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. What's wrong with Civil War II? I'm enjoying the shit out of it.
Granted, I'm a hardcore Tony Stark fan so that might be part of it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Eh, I've like Civil War II so far.
Still, it's probably not relevant to this film, so yeah, ignore that for now.
Oh God! Natural light!I don't. Nobody's been forced to kick a bunch of puppies for the sake of trying to make the conflict look even-handed, and both Carol and Tony believe 100% in what they're doing rather than just backing their side due to circumstances beyond their control ham-fistedly forcing them into a position they don't really represent.
Also, Civil War II #3 is a fantastic exploration piece about the recent rash of unjust killings committed by police in the United States.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Because the conflict is even MORE contrived that it was in the first book. And both sides are acting like trigger-happy idiots again.
So basically the same problems that almost all "hero vs. hero" events have. If your name isn't Joe or Anthony Russo, you struggle to make the conflict seem like it occurred naturally, and you cannot keep the characters in-character and still make your premise work.
New Luke Cage Trailer coming Tuesday
Surprised it's coming this early given that all the Jessica Jones trailers dropped within a month or so of the show coming out and we already got the SDCC trailer. But I'm certainly not complaining.
A few questions about Civil War. Why did Tony recruit Peter Parker when he was upset at the younger people killed in the earlier attack at the beginning of the film, and is now putting another young person in harms way? Wouldn't he already know that Bucky killed his parents due to Natasha leaking all the info about Hydra and the like at the end of Winter Soldier?

Because people like their favorites being stars of their own stories? We do this all the time in fandom.
