Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Important note: Luke has super strength on top of the impervious skin. He can be harmed and even knocked out by hitting him really hard, he just has a higher threshold for "really hard" on account of his super strength.
Tony Stark hitting him over the back of the head with a sledgehammer might hurt but probably won't overtly harm him. A few solid hits from the Hulk to any part of his body, though, and he's going down.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Apparently there's "corporate stuff" preventing crossovers between AOS and the Netflix shows
. Just as well. I don't know if they'd make a good tonal fit.
I'd like more crossovers, but the current low-level version is working pretty well. Daisy was at the same orphanage as Matt, Matt's father fought an AoS villain when he was still a civilian, that sort of thing. The kind of stuff that makes the universe feel connected without disrupting everything with characters crossing over.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. That sucks becuase I feel like SHIELD would be following up on rumors about a superstrong private eye and an invincible man. Even if it's just a moment for them to say "Screw you" on whatever offer SHIELD brought it would be something.
I mean don't we already get enough of this from the Movies/TV divide?
The Blog The Art@Known Unknown: I highly doubt Lupita's character is going to be a villain. She's a member (well, former) of the Dora Milaje. If anything, I bet Klaw shows up along with Killmonger.

The article/interview with Lupita described it as two villains working together to overthrow T'Challa, so I think it's really more likely that it's Killmonger and Klaw, who both would have reasons to want T'Challa gone (and there is precedence in the comics in Klaw and Killmonger's father working together, though that wasn't voluntary on the father's side). Maybe Nakia will become Malice here, too, but through something that happens during the movie which makes her change her mind over T'Challa - we've seen her described as T'Challa's love interest and so far, we've heard nothing of Monica Lynne (the original fiancé) being cast, so the awkward rival/jealousy angle might not even arise, anyway.
I think that's definitely the case in the newest run, which Coogler has said influenced him at least with its take on T'Challa. Killmonger's whole thing is not anti-monarchy however - he wants to go back to Wakanda's isolationist roots, but also wants the royal line gone out of personal resentment. Obviously, they could change his own politics, but given that opening up to the world so far has mostly meant negative things for Wakanda in the MCU, someone who wants to return to the old ways is a good adversary - and it's possible to play it as Killmonger genuinely believing that this is the best for their country.

‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season Four Will Feature “Classic” Inhuman Characters
The showrunners then stated that this freedom would allow them the ability to use some of the “classic” Inhuman characters from the comics but they didn’t go into specifics as far as who we should expect to see. Whedon then went on to discuss the introduction of ‘Ghost Rider’ and being able to explain his presence in a way that audiences would believe. Don’t worry, he’s not going to be an Inhuman.
While the series might not be able to explain everything when it comes to the mystical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series showrunners hope that some of the upcoming big screen releases will help out on that side. Tancharoen went on to state that they can “start to pose the questions that perhaps the movie will answer for us” with Whedon adding that they look at it as “sort of how other shows treat a webisode, a sort of ‘I don’t want to explain magic so Doctor Strange will do it. Our webisode is gigantic.”

I mainly think Nakia and Killmonger because they've worked together in the comics, whereas Klaus and Killmonger have every reason to want to kill each other on sight. I also strongly believe that no matter what they're going to be altering Killmonger's back story (since his usual one doesn't work well as a "first movie" antagonist, IMO).
Also, because it's suspicious that Lupita herself is the one informing us of the number of villains.

Correct. I've only read the Priest series so I'm not sure how the later series may have approached it, but at one point there were Bast-worshipping religious fanatics who assassinated the leader of the Jabari tribe and his wife, since they worshipped the white gorilla god, even after they fled to America. Apparently for all his power, religious extremism is one problem in Wakanda that T'Challa isn't able to keep in check, nor did it indicate that he had any ability to punish them for their crimes after the fact.
There's the simmering tensions between the fourteen-or-so tribes battling for hegemony that caused, I forget whether it was T'Chaka or T'Challa himself, to revive the institution of the Dora Milaje despite his personal distaste for it as a means of keeping the tribes from killing each other. In addition to being his bodyguards they also double as his harem, one woman selected from each tribe. To choose any of them as his wife is to bestow favor on the tribes, so he has to be careful not to show any of them particular favor, and to kick them out like he did with Nakia is also seen as the converse. Hell, Nakia herself almost caused a civil war because of this.
Wakandans, being an isolationist and xenophobic nation, are also huge racists, who don't take kindly to the refugees from neighboring countries like Ghudaza (where Achebe is supposedly from). Even between Wakandans, it's mentioned that the more traditionalist rural folks don't get along with the urban folks too well either.
And as the new Coates series shows, in addition to the anti-monarchist faction, who it should be noted are motivated by the following, there's also people in Wakanda who abuse their authority to commit crimes like rape and extortion, the fact that the country's penal code is rather inflexible towards vigilantes no matter how justified, and so on.
In short, Wakanda is no idyllic utopia. It's a powder keg that T'Challa has managed to keep from exploding on multiple occasions due to being The Chessmaster, and I really hope that they retain that political complexity for the movie and resist the temptation to water it down for the convenience of the morons in the audience.

Agreed. Killmonger and Nakia have worked together, and in fact Killmonger was the one responsible for empowering her in the first place after T'Challa banished her for trying to kill Monica Lynne out of jealousy. It's likely that he'll be changed to a more cerebral character, perhaps combined with some elements from Achebe, while Nakia will serve as his Dragon.

You know, something I have been thinking is the villian using T`challa action in civil war as reason for him not being king
"That damn avenger kill people in wakanda and the king and his son did nothing!"
"T`chaka is dead and where is the guilty? T`challa is weakling!"
"So you go around like a madman without thinking? you a bloodthristy men!"
And so on and on, is very easy to spin his action sin Civil war as him not being fit to govern. no that is going to be the only reason but it could play in the mind of the villian as self justification for what they do.
Also, what genre will be Black panther? so far Iron man 1 is sci fi,Thor fantasy,Ant-man heist movie,Winter soldier a thriller, what genre Black panter will belong?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"![]()

Post I was responding to edited.
Doesn't that quote mean the writer/editor on io9 is pushing for Lockjaw? Jed Whedon might well *want* a giant dog with a tuning fork on his head for the show, but based on where the effects budget for Ao S ended up last season, I wouldn't necessarily count on it.
