Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Seriously, two different Scott Pilgrim actors became superheroes in the MCU, both with the title/rank of "Captain".

Oh God! Natural light!Wow....did you watch the panel of Got G online? James Gunn is VERY energetic.....
I think this is the most fun panel I watched....Yondu's new look is great.
Who is the new female character beside Mantis?

She's indeed Bucky's date to the science fair. First Avenger has so many recognizable people in smaller roles - Natalie Dormer is the private who macks on Cap, and Richard Armitage is the HYDRA spy he's chasing early in the movie. And I just remembered that Toby Jones was in Doctor Who as well, so that's another crossover.

Someone named Ayesha, I think? I'm not familiar with Go TG characters, but I read the name in a write-up.

Ayesha
is the female counterpart to Adam Warlock — she's gone by a number of different names including "Her" and "Kismet." I think Gunn also said that she was the head of a cult, so he might have combined her with the head of the Universal Church of Truth
, which was the Magus, Adam Warlock's evil side.
- Marvel: DC thinks women aren't believable as heroes. Meanwhile, we have a raccoon with a minigun.
- DC: We're finally making that Wonder Woman movie.
- Marvel: Yeah, well, we've got Ego, the Living Planet. What you got?
- DC: Diversity.
- Marvel: ...shit, that's a good answer.
You've also got the Justice League, which has the aformentioned woman (Wonder Woman), a Hawaiian (Aquaman), a black man (Cyborg), and (if you include it) a Jewish man (Flash). All of them front-liners.
And then there's the Suicide Squad, which has two black men (Deadshot and Killer Croc), a Hispanic man (Diablo), a First Nations Canadian (our Lord and Savior Slipknot), a Japanese woman (Katana), and two other women, one of whom's getting all the major focus (Harley Quinn) and one who seems set-up as the main villain (Enchantress). And that's not including Amanda Waller, the black older woman at the helm.
As much as the DCEU needs to catch up, this is the one area where it's Marvel who's behind.
What does everyone think of the new Marvel Studios logo?
I like how it shows the transition from the comics to the movies, but it's a bit long & clunky.

Peace is the only battle worth waging. It's cool, I suppose.
And yeah, Marvel really needs to step up their game here. Stuff like Black Panther and Captain Marvel help, but they really need more diversity for Phase 4.
I didn't really care about Justice League before (I haven't seen Man of Steel or Dawn of Justice), but now that I've seen the trailers, I'm interested. Wonder Woman too, for that matter.
Oh God! Natural light!Eh, the Wonder Woman trailer didn't entirely sell me, I was wondering why there was so much emphasis on Steve Trevor.
The Justice League trailer was mood whiplash trailer form, I'm not sure I've seen anything this uneven since, I dunno. It was weird. It sold me on Barry, it sounds like they finally got writers with a sense of humor, if I wasn't already repulsed by the universe I would almost find it worth looking it. While I didn't see Dawn of Justice this trailer did give me the feeling that Ben Afflack was always meant to play Bruce Wayne/Batman and was just given the wrong movie universe to do that in.
And Suicide Squad is the only thing that seems interesting to me on that side of the pond for many reasons.
But that's irrelevant, I only saw all the Marvel trailers the other day and was pretty much already pumped. I definitely wanted to know more about Cottonmouth's role in Luke Cage's series, I think he may prove to be an interesting villain.
The Iron Fist teaser seemed to cover the basics of character and his origin, I reserve judgement.
I told myself I wouldn't get excited for Doctor Strange but it sort of happened anyway, it looks like it's going to look so cool. Also I guess the Marvel trailers are going to go for Standard trailer but end with a joke that'll just get everyone on board" when it comes to the properties that are a long shot (See Also: Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) and I'm all for that. The end of a experience has a tendency to color people's view of the overall experience so it's a smart move.

I've been putting off seeing Bv S until the un-cut version comes out.
I'm so hyped for Iron Fist, but the teaser was a little underwhelming.

Crow: There's a plot?

Who's the guy at the top back?
