Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I dunno, they've done some pretty impressive special effects, and the flaming skull thing is apparently easier than you'd think. I saw a minor web-video series that pulled it off without difficulty.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I can see there reasoning for using Robbie. He's the newest one, so newer fans might be more familiar with him. Blaze was in two films and neither of them are generally considered to be all that good. Robbie is Hispanic, so more diversity in the MCU (the TV side continues to do much better in that area than the films). And he can even maybe attract some of the Fast and the Furious fans potentially.
From their perspective, it makes sense probably.
We tend to be more forgiving towards web shows. For a TV show, there is a little bit more needed, about all, the flaming skull needs to be expressive one way or another.
Either way, considering how unlikely it was that there would be a Ghostrider at all anytime soon, considering that both the movies and Netflix have a full schedule (a very full schedule), I really don't get why there are so many complainers. I mean, I get that sometimes one is disappointed, I too wanted Cloak and Dagger on the big screen and not on Freeform of all places, but I nevertheless look forward to getting them at all.
I also don't think that Ghostrider is really a good fit for Netflix. Somehow people have gotten in their mind that only Netflix can do grim and gritty, but for one I don't believe that this is true and two, the Ghostrider doesn't really fit into the Netflix verse. He is a less grounded characters than the others (hell, they are already struggling with the hand and Iron Fist), and he certainly doesn't belong to New York.
I think that the idea that some people have is that the Netflix stuff should expand outside of just the "grim and gritty streetlevel" NY stuff. Kind of how like the films have gone from the (relatively) grounded Iron Man, to GOTG and Doctor Strange (big leap there).
And GR is fundamentally a "dark" character so there's that. But my personal picks for future Netflix shows are Daughters of the Dragon (since they're introducing both Misty Knight and Colleen Wing soon), Blade, and The Runaways.
Does Marvel have access to the old Spider-Man theme. It'd feel weird if we finally got Spidey back in Marvel's hands, about to do an old-school comic-esque Spidey movie, and it's the one time we don't get to hear it in a film.
I assume they still have access to the old Marvel Super Heroes themes, even if they haven't used any of them since the first Iron Man movie.
So far Netflix has struggled with the Hand, which is widely considered the weakest aspect of season 2 (but will apparently be the main villain of the Defenders? Or has the hand shape in the teaser another meaning?), and according to the rumours, had a hard time with Iron Fist, too. And, yeah, let's not forget that Netflix is pretty much booked with shows. I assume that we will get Iron Fist and the Defenders next year, and they have already announced Jessica Jones season 2, The Punisher and Daredevil season 3. Even if they up the ante and do three shows per year from 2017 onward, they will still be booked until roughly 2019, and that is not taking the possibility of a second season Luke Cage and/or Iron Fist into account. And even if they do decide that yes, they want to slot someone else in, there are other options which would be a way better fit and easier to integrate than the Ghost rider. Moon knight for starters.
For Agents, I'm fine with Robbie being the Ghost Rider of choice but I'd rather have the motorcycle and Zarathos than the car and Eli. Robbie's a good character but I feel like his series changed a little too much. I'd even be willing to keep the car, I just want Robbie to have Zarathos.
EDIT: Wait, Zarathos might not be the right character I'm thinking of. >.< I have trouble with his name. I'm pretty sure the demon typically bound to the Ghost Rider is Zarathos?

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Why not have him use both the Car and the Bike, alternating depending on what he can get his hands on.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah. Eli's another attempt to fix what ain't broke. The demon Zarathos being bound to the Ghost Rider and making him a Spirit of Vengeance is a cool concept.
The last time they tried to "fix" it, they revealed that Zarathos is an angel and the Ghost Rider is actually an angel of justice. That was stupid.
Having the Spirit of Vengeance be empowered by a deranged mortal satanist is equally stupid.
Robbie's a fine character, but there's nothing fundamentally wrong with Zarathos as a concept. I wish Robbie could just have Zarathos.

Unless that wasn't what you were reacting to.

Same. I think Robbie's story would've made for a great Netflix miniseries.
