Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Only if you bother to go into the political-controversy-related "memes", though even then I've seen a fairly diverse range of opinions on the few times I've gone there rather than just a flood of alt-right circlejerking.
Not sure why we're just ragging on other sites' communities, though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It originated as a conversation about Jessica Jones.
Hype for s2 btw, though they have a Tough Act to Follow in the sense of Kilgrave being an excellent villain.
It's going to be tricky to have as compelling and interesting a villain as Killgrave that's for sure. And whilst the writing and the performance put Jess well above just another jerkass P.I. I for one want to see her become at least a little happier and nicer as a person now she's confronted and overcome Killgrave and his influence. She's never going to be Little Miss Happy I know but even baby steps would be steps.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."![]()

That's how. I was asking why.
Every website community has toxic elements, this one included. I don't see the point of singling out other sites in such a holier-than-thou way.
I imagine she'll be a bit lighter now that Kilgrave has been killed and put in his grave, but it wouldn't be Jessica if she weren't a total jackass. That's part of what makes her entertaining.
It'll be interesting to see how she interacts with Daredevil. Matt is generally polite toward innocents but hyper-violent toward criminals, while Jessica is abrasive toward both but not as violent, snapping Kilgrave's neck aside. Kind of a black-and-white view against a light-gray-and-dark-gray view.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I read Doctor Strange: The Oath yesterday, and now I'm surprised I haven't seen more people mention how Night Nurse gave Strange the nickname Sherlock.

Looking at Vox Day's page, the article itself seems relatively objective but highlights his bigotry and extreme views and tags the article as "racism", and the comments are full of vitriol calling him a snake or a caveman among other things, or comparing him to the Time Cube guy. I don't see anything really supporting it.
I don't doubt that the site has alt-right supporters amongst its ranks, I've certainly seen them here and there in comments on other political memes the few times I've dared to look, but I don't see what makes the site any worse in that regard than Reddit, or Tumblr, or this site, or any other site with a diverse range of opinions amongst many sub-communities.
But this is starting to stray really far off-topic now, so I'll stop talking about it. Like I said I don't even understand why it was brought up in the first place unless just to randomly bash it.
More on-topic, I'm rewatching DD s1 right now. Just finished episode 4 and I still think it's an absolute masterpiece and my personal favorite piece of MCU media. Might watch JJ and DD s2 again too while we wait for Luke Cage.
I never slam a car door shut anymore without thinking about Anatoly.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Hallway fight oner at the end of DD's second episode remains the best street-level superhero fight scene ever put to screen.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.It doesn't really have much competition in that regard besides its own second season. Jessica Jones, Agent Carter, and Agents of SHIELD aren't really fight-oriented shows.
That hallway oner is probably my favorite, but I do really like the similar stairwell oner from season 2, and the fight with Nobu in both seasons, though I'm not sure whether the season 2 one could be considered street-level at that point (And not just because it's literally above the street).

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Imo, the best Spider-Man action scene ever filmed (and imo, it's one of the best superhero scenes ever made) is the opening chase in Amazing Spider-Man 2, and while he's fighting a band of robbers with guns it's not what I would call a street level scene.
There's a lot of great Batman scenes that showcase him as scary, but now that I think about it I can't think of a lot of outright action scenes in his movies that are really memorable.
Best street level action scene ever is this one. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

It's absurd how much punishment Vladimir takes before he dies.
- Caught in his warehouse exploding, stumbles out.
- Beaten up by Daredevil and shot in the leg by a cop.
- Carried across half the city still bleeding, and is cauterized with a road flare.
- Tackles Daredevil and falls down through two floors into a hard-floored basement.
- Heart stops for about half a minute, restarts and then he helps lift a very heavy sewer grate.
- Thrown across a tunnel.
- Makes last stand against five or so officers in full riot gear armed with automatics, lasted a shockingly long time against them before finally dying.

Well, the fight scene in Bv S is pretty good in my opinion. The Batman vs Luthor's minions one. It made the whole movie kind of worth watching on cinema. That's how Batman was supposed to look like while fighting; using gadgets and martial arts like it's nobody's business.
And the Punisher scene in the prison is actually pretty good too.
I actually like the original Hallway fight way better than the redo from season 1. The first one feels so real, the second one is overly long (meaning I am already bored before it ends) and feels too staged. The hallway fight in the prison is for me the best action scene of season 2 and comes close to the original.
But when it comes to action scenes, Ao S has the most to offer. There isn't much talk about it because too many people have given up on the show and those who didn't kind of take it for guaranteed at this point, but Ao S offers a variety of different action scenes, from someone fighting through a number of paper soldiers, to two opponents facing each other in hand-to-hand combat, to carefully choreographed group battles to some really nifty flying scenes.

Green, purple, and orange are the standard villain colors. While heroes do sometimes wear them (such as Iron Fist), if you're looking for a color motif to apply to a villain, those are usually the ones selected.
