Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Re Flash, I agree. While I know it isn't as optimal as Agent Venom in the comics, I could see the movies doing some version of it, depending on how many movies there are. So like have a semi-sympathetic Flash in the first movie and continue to develop him throughout the series. In the second or third movie have Brock!Venom, ending with Brock being depowered. In whatever movie Brock!Venom appears, have Flash get seriously injured saving someone. Then, in The Stinger, have someone from SHIELD visit Flash in the hospital and give him the symbiote,

They're planning on just that anyway.

That's sorta how I see it. Start with Brock, have it end with Spider-Man managing to rip the suit away from him, make some kind of stinger on it getting to Flash. Maybe a piece comes off and finds Kassidy. Maybe Brock at the end feels guilty as hell, leading to Anti-Venom, if they're willing to try that route.
Anti-Venom's a bit awkward, especially since it requires Mr. Negative and a lot of loose interpretation regarding his powerset. Marvel kinda murdered that entire plot point with a rusty carving knife during Spider-Island and has never looked back, opting to give him an actual symbiote, Toxin, since nobody who matters was using it.
They also seem to be merrily ignoring the part where Toxin is the Chosen One of symbiotes, respected as a peer and equal by Spider-Man, and "more powerful than Venom and Carnage combined." Which is good, because that was really stupid. Basically, Toxin's entire story has been Broad Stroked at this point. It's just a symbiote that spawned from Carnage now.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Show of hands: am I the only one who wants to see Luke Cage with the yellow jacket and tiara of his Power Man days, if just as a short Mythology Gag?
I'd be up for the jacket, but the tiara's just weird.
Maybe something he wore back in his younger years that he looks back upon with embarrassment.
Oh God! Natural light! You haven't been to some parts of the Internet.
I remember us talking here about how all the white men were either villainous or not important, I belive the concencus amongst our own white male population was "Oh yeah, I didn't even notice, I guess that's kinda cool, I mean it's not like I particularly care about having a heroic white man in every TV show I watch".
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI have a hard time believing that it won't be Davos. Not only is he a big-time IF villain, but they've already teased him (in DD S1, Madame Goa's heroin has the mark of the Steel Serpent stamped on it). And given that many IF fans (and I freely admit to not knowing a ton about IF), believe that she is actually the Crane Mother, it makes all the more sense.
Davos is certainly the most obvious choice but it would necessitate a bit of careful writing. There's already been some... heated debate... about whether Danny should be Caucasian or Asian or mixed race, though they went with a white Danny in the end. The problem being, Danny and Davos's relationship/feud in the comics boils down to Always Someone Better - Danny being the better of the two.
And in the comics it works pretty well. However, if there's already heat about the (debatable) Mighty Whitey-ness of Danny, having him defeat an Asian character in a kung fu fight is really going to ramp it up. I'm not necessarily saying this is right, but if Davos is the baddie, it will happen, I am sure.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."

I would have liked to see Spectacular Spider-Man do Agent Venom with the Flash they had.
Would have been a bit difficult though since the symbiote is pretty explicitly evil in that, as it is in most adaptations.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
