Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Again, he doesn't have to throw down with Tony for the effects of his actions to be relevant to someone like Tony. As I've pointed out, that's hyperbolic.
Tony is a guy whose entire reason for living is stopping weapons and dangerous tech from falling into the wrong hands, being traded by the wrong hands, and from being out there in the world in general, so in particular he's a bad example for a character who shouldn't be effected by hypothetical super-tech organized crime.
And also again pointing out that historically Marvel hasn't worked that way. The very characters we're talking about don't work that way. Street level isn't a corner where characters in that niche run without ever being recognized beyond that boundary.

Just wanna point out that Spider-Man is street level. And he has been to Asgard.
My various fanfics. But but but... MCU Kingpin is not at all involved in weapons trading or any of the high end stuff the Avengers deal with. He's literally a slum lord and probably involved to a lesser or greater degree with the drug smuggling and prostitution rackets of Hell Kitchen, but that's it. And the Avengers, for better or worse, deal with international level threats, not one criminal in one part of one city.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."And I agreed with you about that the last time you posted it. Fisk isn't that way currently. He's not particularly influential at all currently, even among MCU Daredevil's other antagonists.
But that doesn't mean that he or other street level characters of his type are incapable of that level of international influence. Remember that, Adaptational Wimp or not, he's still implied to be on the path to becoming The Kingpin.

Karl Urban talks a bit about the Executioner
, and says the character has his own arc.
Which is more than the comic book equivalent had, let's face it. He was basically the Enchantress' muscle/body-guard for literally 99% of his entire history and then at the very last minute underwent a morality switch and a heroic sacrifice. Technically I guess that is an arc but a very flat one.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."It wasn't much compared to his entire publishing history but Simonson had the Executioner's arc going on a fair bit before Gjallerbru and basically incorporated his flat character status into it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat's pretty much as I thought. Urban's a good choice for the role I think, and it will be nice to have a decent Thor villain who isn't Loki (who is rapidly outstaying his welcome for me.)
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I think they'll protray him as a Noble Demon Anti-Villain with doubts for who he's fighting for, and in the end he switches sides and makes his gallant Last Stand.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I hope he goes on for a bit longer than one movie.
Even if it's done well, will his last stand mean anything if he dies in the same movie he appeared in?
One Strip! One Strip!Do we know for sure whether Iron Fist is going to be appearing in this at all? They are a pretty iconic pairing but they might want to focus on Luke himself first time around and leave Danny to his own show.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I don't think the timeline works for Danny Rand showing up in Luke Cage. From what I can gather, Iron Fist opens with Danny Rand arriving in New York City from Kun Lun.
The other way around would work. Or they might just have them meet during the Defenders and have them show up in each others shows in any hypothetical second seasons. No need to force a crossover before the story calls for it.

Oh, so this then:
