Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Loki and Zola are the ones we know lasted beyond their movie, with Loki lasting three movies so far (with a fourth on the way) and Zola lasting two movies. We're expecting Zemo to last, too, since he didn't die at the end of the movie.
Even though the Abomination and the Leader both were alive at the end of Incredible Hulk, they haven't shown up again (which makes sense as they are Hulk villains and we haven't had a Hulk movie).

Red Queen Janet would be pretty cool. Especially with the MCU's recent push for more female villains she would make a good choice. Plus a film with an A-plot centered around trying to get the Big Bad to Heel–Face Turn and survive would make for an interesting story.
Batroc! Well, for a given value of "his movie," anyway. But, he was in it, and he didn't die. Also, Nebula survived as well, though she hasn't shown up yet. But she's too major a character to not return.
I'm kind of hoping Ronan survived getting fried by the Infinity Stone at point blank range, because he's my favorite villain so far.
While I can understand why Marvel would want to shy away from Hank Pym's domestic abuse, I think that Pym's darker side was portrayed pretty well by Douglas in the movie. I hope that in the sequel or in another MCU movie, his Bipolar Disorder and his erratic mental state in general is lampshaded, because I think that overall, Pym is a pretty good poster boy for coping with being Bipolar(Other than the slapping incident, but he's overcome even that I think, he's MORE than made up for it by this point).
Yep, totally. That to me is his main appeal. Shit, the movie even brings up how Pym Particles fucked up Darren Cross. Maybe they fucked up Pym's mental state too despite his suit, albeit to a lesser extent.
I didn't write this, but 100% agree with it: http://onihcinimkcin.tumblr.com/post/96084661046/scaredystark-its-hard-for-me-to-get-on-the
Getting tired of the myths that Tumblr continues to keep circulating that Hank willfully "abused" his wife when it was a one-time accident resulting from a miscommuncication between the writer and artist, and that Ant-Man "stole" representation when it was in the works before even the first Iron Man, plus was never in a state to be abruptly canceled in favor of a more representative movie.
I'm definitely not going to defend abuse on any level, but I'm a big believer in redemption and in forgiveness. Pym has shown ever since that slapping incident that he was completely out of his mind when he did it and is remorseful for doing it and has tried to make amends for it. If people can't accept that, that's on them. Plus, his instability completely explains why Ultron turned out to be batshit insane, since his personality is based on Pym's, just without the empathy.
That is more fault of Marvel who sometimes reduce him to "Pym Hand" and I agree that they portray his darker side very well.
on the other hand I still complain that Darren could be a good villian should he have more focus instead of Scott, ughhhhhh
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"They're probably conflating the Ultimate Hank how was Not Great. Or Chuck Austen who tried to push a narrative during his run on Avengers that the abuse was a sustained thing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHe was very abusive, though he did apparently die sacrificing himself to save everyone....and was still treated like shit.
He probably deserved it. I don't know if he was genuinely trying to fix himself the way mainstream Pym was or not, but I'm not surprised it didn't take.
One Strip! One Strip!

Hope they change the outfit shown in the stinger
