Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. There's a lot of actresses that would make a good Squirrel Girl. It's not a very demanding role. Can she do peppy and chipper? Sold.
If I were casting the character, I'd give bonus points to any lady who can actually make squirrel noises rather than having to dub the chittering over her when she's talking to squirrels.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.So thanks to my bro, I got a theory about Yondu:
Now as some of you know, before the current incarnation of the Guardians that we've been seeing in the comics, there was a another version that existed many years in the 31st century (of which Vance ''Justice'' Astrovik was a member due to some weird immortality experiment). That version included the classic version of Yondu, who was something of a Noble Savage type.
After the success of the movie, where he was a Space Pirate in the current era, Yondu was reimagined in 616 in a manner similar to his movie version.
The point is the classic version of the Guardians don't exist in the movies...or do they?
Here's a thought: How did Yondu know about the orb? Where did he find out about it? What if he didn't just send Peter after it cause he thought it was worth some cash (though he probably did do that)? What if he knew exactly what he was dealing with the whole time. That's why he wanted it so badly.
I mean, it's pretty crazy that he was even willing to fight Ronan for it don't you think? Ronan is a big scary guy who is wiping out a civilization cause they looked at him funny. Who'd want to fight someone like that, especially when you're nothing more than a money grubbing thief. Sure, if you win, you'd have both a powerful weapon, and a huge source of cash on hand, but that's a big if, and you still gotta go through Ronan to get it, which the movie showed was no easy task if you aren't willing to challenge him to a dance off.
But Yondu did it, cause he knew the orb was worth it. Maybe not for altruistic reasons, but his reasons were enough for him to go for it, and since Peter was so desperate to do the right thing, it gave him an excuse to commit to the quest.
Now, why do all this? Well, it's because despite not being from the future, there's still a previous version of the Guardians Of The Galaxy in this verse, and Yondu was apart of it, with Quill's dad (who we still no next to nothing about). So they were old buddies who fought together in the original Guardians, and maybe the people who previously controlled the power stone weren't the ones who sealed it, but actually Yondu and Quill's dad, along with the rest of the team. Afterwards, they parted ways, but then Quill's pops asks Yondu to pick up Peter, which he does, but then opts to keep him. He calls Quill's dad an asshole, but it's possible for them to still be friends (cause friends can still call each other assholes, or even be assholes to each other and still be friends).
The final point of this idea (and a part I realized as I was writing this): who called them the Guardians Of The Galaxy? Cause it Quill didn't do it until after he took the power of the Stone to kill Ronan. It was Ronan himself who came up with the name, and there no evidence he came up with it off the top of his head. Ronan was many things, but I'm not sure if he's clever enough to come up with something like that. He'd heard the name before, and name dropped it to mock them for falling short of the previous team, unaware that he would inspire the biological and adoptive son of two of it's previous members to take it up.
And that's that. Let that one percolate for a bit.
One Strip! One Strip!Frank Grillo Questions Crossbones' "Captain America: Civil War" Fate
No way.
The bomb was exploding when Wanda sent him up. There's no way he survived that.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, but Crossbones in Winter Soldier had all of these little scenes that set him up as being a guy who is going to be a big deal down the road, and then he ends up as a random Cold Open villain in Civil War. I thought he deserved better.

Yeah, I've been assuming that we're getting all these announcements because they're mostly just students and teachers running around and we're getting this much publicity becuase presumably we are spending quite a bit more time in the school than previous movies which took us to the city quickly and tended to stay there longer.
Maybe Peter accrues a nerd posse and that's what all these people are for, like he's in a science club or something.
Hmmm, in that case perhaps Homecoming is alluding to the villain. Maybe they went to Peter's school and have come back to be a speaker or something, or an instructor, or a recruiter, scoping out the science team for potential "scholarship opportunities" (Aka ideas to steal from the next generation).
I just realized I accidentally just started turning Homecoming halfway Big Hero 6.
